hey
my kid brother (well, hes my exes little brother but we're tight and i think of him as my own) bought himself a scooter on saturday
he has a history of bad luck with scooters and bikes
well, this time was no different
at 3.00pm on monday he was involved in a serious crash with a car
we are not sure wtf happened yet only that the car turned right and across him
we dont know if he hit the car or the car hit him
we do know he went through the window of the car
we do know 2 doctors were there almost instantly and the police got there in under 2 minutes
it was so serious they called in the air ambulance to airlift him to hospital
the first his mum knew of it was when a police car screamed to a stop outside her house and a policeman knocked on the door
the poor woman didnt even know he had bought a scooter as she had begged him not to any more
she called me from the police car (they were brilliant, they got her to the hospital in record time) totally distraught
a policeman had to explain what was going on
i felt like the bottom had fallen out from my world.........
i raced to the hospital not knowing what to expect
i got to a & e and the receptionist couldn't locate him
i was going frantic by now
luckily - a policewoman who was first on the scene of the accident was there and brought me into the room where his mum and girlfriend were
i thought he was dead
i have never seen so much raw emotion in my life
we sat there for an hour waiting and waiting
i found out afterwards that he had been diagnosed with collapsed lungs at the scene and the strap of his helmet had crushed his throat
they opened him up on the road and stuck a tube down his throat just to keep him alive
once in the hospital, he underwent a full body scan
he had no major internal injuries thank god other than a couple of cracked ribs
more worrying was a shadow on his brain
the scans were inconclusive as to whethe rits blood or bruising
they were so concerned though, they opened his head and put a monitoring device in
he is still in intensive care but doing better
he is breathing by himself
he recognises family
he has no recollection of the accident
he's the luckiest bastard i know as it could have been so much worse
he's my kid brother and i love him........
