So, talked to John and he filled me in on whats going on over there in Afghanistan, hes been outside the wire (outside Kaf -the main camp) since the second week in October, and as far as he knows he is going to be out there till at least December 12th before his coy is going to get some relief. His days are spent digging and sandbagging..fun i know..He said the place is starting to look like a sandbag fortress!! Must be quite a sight - cant wait to see the pictures he took. Since he has been out there theres no computers, no phones, showers or even REAL FOOD..these poor guys sleepin on the ground, eating rations for 2 months, not being able to shower properly or keep in touch with loved ones like everyone else. They havent been getting their mail or their care pkg's because its too hard for the drivers to get everything out to them safely..remember they are front line infantry troops.. I think someone felt bad for them and drove them out a SAT phone which was nice, and they had a computer on loan for a couple days too..but an hour after John emailed me, the computer stopped working ..no one knows why. Im thinkin maybe all the sand inside it!?! Oh well at least ill get a couple more phone calls between now and when hes back in KAF safely. i cant wait, im so happy that he and everyone else is doing so great. Only 76 more days babe and i can welcome you home!
