He reigns in my heart and is comfortable in his throne. I do not mind. I want to keep him there forever. Always.-
The sun was high in the sky, a bright orb of fire set against the canopy of clear white clouds and a crystal blue sky. The heavens were gloriously reflected in the rippling waters of the lake. And not far from the line of trees enclosing it stood a young man. He was knee deep into the shallow banks, standing with shadowed eyes and seemingly allowing the shifting waters to enclose his legs in wrinkled circles.
The water was cold, soothing, and perfect for the hot weather. He was well aware of that fact, but he acted as if it was the last thing in his mind. And perhaps, it was.
As if trying to catch his attention, the kind lake drew a hazy mirror image of him on her creased surface. Unknown to this young man, she truly felt for him. The many pristine raindrops that gathered in her heart were just as many as the tears that she had shed for people that had come to her, just as he had. Sadly, those people never knew… After all, it was hard to distinguish her tears from the lake waters, and even from the rain.
Her heart clenched tightly, painfully, as she looked up at him. She could only watch as a teardrop gently rolled from his eyes and down his cheeks before joining hers. The tear didn’t make a sound, it barely even made any ripples, nonetheless, she heard and felt it, and clearly so too.
She would have taken more time to revel in that moment, but heaven was quick to attract her interest. With a few raindrops of his own, the once-blue sky was successful in taking the kind lake’s gaze, even for only a few moments. The king of the sky, the sun himself, seemed willing to let his subjects, the clouds and the infinite blue, share this young man’s grief.
And she openly cried with them.
