James Earl Tincher

James.jpg I can't believe she's finally going to be a mother. My sister, Denise, and her husband, Danny, have been trying to have a baby for four years to no avail. Going through various methods to have a successful pregnancy, they finally were able to carry the little one they have been waiting for after three miscarriages. Denise was diagnosed with a rare blood disease that deterred her best efforts at becoming pregnant. After multiple doctor visits they prescribed a blood thinner to assist in keeping her blood from clotting too much. Giving her a shot in the hip and or stomach, this procedure was repeated three times a day for the entire pregnancy. I don't think I've been as excited as I was waiting for her to give birth to this little angel. The entire nine months that I waited were like I was waiting on a watched pot to boil. I would think to myself that if I have to wait any longer I'm going to crazy from the anticipation. Finally at five o'clock on October 18, 2001 I was called to Bethesda Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio to await my nephew's arrival, and did we ever wait. We sat in her room for two days before the doctors informed us all that the bundle of joy was stuck, and my sister had begun to run a fever. After careful deliberation the team of doctors had decided to go ahead and perform a C-Section to remove the baby by hand. At one point I was going to be able to be in the room as she gave birth to James, however with them now performing a C-Section that was no longer an option, the only person allowed in the room was of course her husband, and the father Danny. The rest of us, My Dad, my brother and his wife and myself were directed to the nearest waiting room to relax while they prepared Denise for surgery. Sitting in the waiting room was torture. The walls were painted a pure white, with the ugliest and most uncomfortable furniture in the entire hospital spread throughout the room. In the corner on a small stand were a coffee maker and a soda machine for refreshments next to it. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Danny came out of the back and instructed us to come on back to see my newborn nephew, James Earl. I grabbed my sister's bags and started walking down the long hallway, which was the same boring white that the waiting room was. artwork sporadically lining the walls in-between the occasional door. In the distance, a nurse's station with nurses going about their daily business. My attention was finally directed to the last door on the left where my sister was holding her new baby boy. James' eye's were opened wide to take in the bright new surroundings. Denise placed him into my arms as I stared into his big beautiful blue eyes. All I could think to myself was how adorable and so very plump he was, I knew this wonderful child would be loved so much. As I held my nephew my father came in and I handed him his first grandchild. His aging face was adorned with love and pride as he gazed at his family's newest member. ©-Copyright; Ted E. Brown II & Rhonda M. Hughes
