Many times I've read blog posts and comments about our lives. We wish...we want....we desire...and yet somehow...something gets in the way and all we can see is we didn't get the "gold". We think we have failed ourselves as we look back over the years. Then there are those that say "yes...I've done it....I got the gold!" Okay...so then what?
If you look back at your life and think you have failed or view yourself as "less than".....then you've missed life itself! Don't look at the end...your not dead yet! Look at your journey! Look at every step you took to get where you are today.
If you say "I have and I am nowhere and I am nobody".......Then you need to take your eyes on the "gold". Changing life is as simple as changing a thought about something. Refuse to succumb to the negative. (Easier said than done sometimes)
My point is this. I have spent my life concentrating on becoming "successful", so to speak, and "showing" them I am a person. I am somebody. And you know what.....I missed the journey! I was so accustom to knowing and feeling like a failure...I wasn't even sure myself if I would ever feel good about myself and was trying to measure my worth by the "gold". It makes little difference what you do, where you live, what you have... it is WHO YOU ARE that really matters. I know it's easy to become focused on the carrot, and miss the journey. But life is to short not stop once in a while to savor it, take it in and enjoy the moments. There's nothing wrong with going for gold, that's drive and ambition, but when that becomes your only purpose, what's the point, you've missed those great moments you look back on and say 'that was my life'.
If you make it to the end result or goal...then that is a bonus. But the true "gold" is the journey.
