What are you waiting for?

Do you know the saying it's not easy being green? Well in my case in December 2009 it wasn't easy being bright fluorescent yellow. I went to the doctor on a Wednesday and had a blood test and a urine test. I got a phone call on that Friday telling me that I have to go and get another blood test the next morning. So the next morning I go and get another blood test and the doctor explained to me that my Bilirubin was high. Now bilirubin is a product that results from the breakdown of hemoglobin. The total and direct bilirubin are usually measured to screen for or to monitor liver or gallbladder problems. So on Monday morning I was getting dressed to go and visit my grandmother at the hospital she had fallen and hit her head on that Friday and then my mom got another phone call from the doctor and the doctor said the bilirubin was still high to go the hospital and go to the emergency room so I did.

Well after seeing one doctor in the emergency room they wanted to give me another blood test so I said great my fourth one in the past week. One thing you should really know about me is that I hate needles and my veins are always hard to find. So the doctor goes to take my blood and of course its not coming out and he's hurting my arm so I tell him owwww that hurts and the stupid doctor says oh I like to hurt. Something tells me he shouldn't be telling his patients that he likes to hurt. Anyway's the blood test again showed that bilirubin was still there and wasn't leaving. The doctor then had me go for a sonogram which I did and then I had to wait hours just for the results. Then they finally got me a room cause they admitted me. The doctors explained to me that I turned yellow because I had a blockage in the bile duct. The Bile duct obstruction is a blockage in the tubes that carry bile from the liver to the gallbladder and the small intestine. The doctor asked me if I had any back pain cause usually you would have some but I didn't have any back pain or any pain at all. The doctors told me I needed to have surgery and was going to have it the next morning so I was worried about it but knew I had to have it. Then I was told they couldn't do it that morning so was told id have surgery on Christmas eve morning. Yes that's right I said Christmas eve morning. So that morning I remember going in for surgery and I remember being in the operating room crying a little before surgery. I then remember being told by the nurses that it will be ok and then being told what the doctor will do when I'm asleep. The last thing I remember was being put to sleep and looking at the cute doctors face before I went out lol.

Then I remember waking up in the recovery room with a sore throat and being told I could go home later that day. I was also told that I would have to come back in a couple of months so I could have my gallbladder taken out. I was told that I could start eating that night just be careful. We asked my father to get me some Greek Lemon Chicken Soup so that's what I had that night. On Christmas Day we had our usual big family Christmas with the yummy Italian and Greek food and great gifts. I finally got my purple ipod which made my sister jealous haha. During this fun time of being in the hospital and having surgery I had lost 14 pounds cause I was on a liquid diet.

Then April 29,2010 I had my gallbladder taken out. I was told that I could go home later that day which I didn't feel that I should go home right away but they said I was fine and ready to go home. The doctor gave me heavy duty pain pills but guess what I didn't take anything at all for the pain not even an aspirin just call me superwoman haha. It was very uncomfortable but I was fine until I fainted in the bathroom the next night and had to be rushed to the hospital. See when the patient says they aren't ready to go home don't send them home. I had to have an iv with fluids then was sent home and felt a lot better. My family doctor later told me that I had post traumatic vertigo and that's why I fainted. He said sometimes after surgery this happens.

So now you know about my surgery's and the craziness that is my life lol. This all happened because of some side effects of my medicine that I had to take nonstop since I was first diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic.
