Do you realize how dirty your cell phone is?
INSIDE EDITION asked fifteen people in New York City to allow their phones to be swabbed to see just what could be growing on them. They said that some of the organisms found on the cell phones have been associated with infectious disease. One in particular was associated with acne, another could potentially cause gastrointestinal infection.
Also found on one of the phones was a bacteria called staph aureus, which can cause skin infections like boils, or even more serious infections such as pneumonia or meningitis. The worst thing INSIDE EDITION found was candida albicans, which can cause a variety of serious infections such as thrush, which is an infection of the mouth.
