Recently a local government office has decreed that all children have to have a helmet on when riding a bike. If a child is stopped twice within a 12 month period for failure to be wearing a helmet, the parents are issued a ticket and fined.
Does it seem to anyone else like government is getting over involved in running our everyday lives? i'm all for safety but is it the Governments job to tell us that we have to do this, or should it be left to the parents to be responsible.
i mean where does it stop? next will they require elbow and knee pads too... then maybe require "shoelace free" shoes when riding so they don't come untied and stuck in the chain. where does it stop?
and don't get me started on the whole AIG thing. |
