International Order of Horror Professionals Celebrates First-Year Anniversary
Colorado Springs, CO (PRWEB) July 7, 2007 -- The International Order of Horror Professionals, a multi-disciplinary network for individuals interested in, or already working in, the horror genre celebrates its one-year anniversary. IOHP is the first organization of its kind that caters to professionals working in all disciplines of the horror genre, including literature, film, music, multimedia and special FX/make-up, among others.
Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, a city with connections to Lon Chaney, Jr., Elvira-Mistress of the Dark and Dee Snider's movie, Strangeland, IOHP has attracted over 200 professional- and associate-status members since the organization’s creation on July 3, 2007. Currently, our roster represents members in 16 different regions located in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and the Czech Republic.
For those who are starting out in the genre, IOHP believes it is invaluable for novices to network with professionals who can guide them as they step their tentative toes into the "pool," so to speak. Often, taking that first step is so overwhelming that many shy away from even trying. Or, they do so in private, afraid to approach others and ask for help. This is another reason why the International Order of Horror Professionals exists: people new to the genre will have a veritable smorgasbord of knowledge, information and talent they can tap into on many levels.
To expand our outreach program, IOHP offers monthly podcasts for the general public. Podcasts include commentary, interviews and reviews for those interested in the horror genre.
