installment 1

she wandered the streets wondering where she should go. where was she now? the girl had no idea. the streets were cracked pavement full of graffiti and telltale spots of dried blood. a war had gone on here. dead bodies, invisible to the naked eye, were sprawled all over the place. the girl was not afraid and calmly stepped over every one. the street signs were broken and faded. there was no way to tell where she was or how much further she had to go. the street lights flickered on a off, lighting her way. a rustle from a bush didnt frighten the girl. she hissed silently and heard a soft answering hiss. "good" she thought. "they're in position". tonight was the last night, a final battle, a final day to the war...but first, the girl needed food. she was an innocent-looking girl of 10 or 11 years old, she couldnt remember anymore. it had been too long... footsteps from around the corner. "excuse me little girl?" a young man said hesitantly when he saw her. "what are you doing out so late? are you lost?" "yes sir" the girl's eyes welled up. "my mommy sent me out in our new neighborhood to go look for a conveniece store and i've been wandering around for hours!" "where do you live?" "in the blue collar district...i think..." "well" he said, offering her his hand. "i can walk you over there, it isnt that far from here. if you recognize anything let me know." "ok" she sniffed, wiping tears away from puffy hazel eyes. they started to walk at a clipped pace. the man knew the danger of being out so late. he checked his watch. almost 2 am...on a school night. what was this little girl's mom thinking?! maybe he'll suggest some stores that were close by since they were new to that neighborhood and he worked in the same district for years. but then again, it wasnt his place to tell the woman how to raise a child...but still...2 am on a school night. unconsciously, they walked into a park where the children of the fishing district played. the trees created questionable shadows that appeared to have no end to them. a full moon was overhead. the child tripped over her shoes and fell, scraping a knee. "ow!!!" she cried as blood flowed slowly out of the wound. the young man leaned down, comforting her as he tried to stop the cut from bleeding. he ripped a part of his shirt and pressed it against the wound. he looked at the young girl. her eyes were pools of pain. he checked the wound...except now there wasnt one. he looked back at the girl. she smiled and showed her fangs as they grew longer. it was pointless to scream, no one would help him. before he could react, she was on top of him, draining his body dry...
