Awhile back I decided to place a somewhat humorous ad on Craig's List. I figured that maybe,just maybe I can meet someone. Well, I did...and it was a fiasco of major proportions (we didn't reach biblical proportions so that's a good thing). :)
So I present to you, for your perusal, my ever so witty,catchy,hip and semi amusing add :

Firstly, I'm a geek,nerd,dweeb or whatever the latest term is.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way....
I'm a nice guy *wow...very original don't you think?*
I have a very good sense of humor,a tendency to be a bit sarcastic and love to talk. Hmmm, a comedian and a rambler too?!? What a combo!
Like I said, I venture onto the Nerdy side. I like Sci-fi, Electronic (goth,industrial,house,etc)Music,Movies (Horror to dopey comedies), and so much more. I love to eat (a novel concept and also deemed important)...My kingdom for some Chinese or Italian food.
I love bookstores,the occasional foray into NY, or the ultra rare time I'd goto a nightclub (loop lounge,Qxt's that sort of thing).

Now for the stats....(good g0d):
I'm about 6ft tall.
Dark hair cropped close.
A bit chubby (I was told that means more to love....ughhh).
Brown eyes (I have 2, 3 would be a pain as when do you ever see tri focals?)
A slight mustache and goatee (well both are in training now...ie..coming in)
I'm in my late 30's but I've been told I can pass for being 20 something.
I've also been told that a lot of things so I take it with a grain of salt. :)
What am I looking for? A friend (obviously female hence the reason I posted to this section). Someone laid back,someone who could handle my sense of humor, a friend leading up to something more ( we'll leave that open to discussion).
As for race..well, as long as your not a Klingon we'll get along fine.
So to synthesize (g0d I love that word), I am :
1. A pretty decent guy who's lonely in Northern NJ.
2. somewhat nerdy but I don't posses a pocket protector,protractor or spout off
Non sequiturs ( Ok I do that occasionally).
3. Willing and able to rock a turntable (I figured I'd add that in because I only had 2 other listings).

The ad brought me 2 somewhat interested parties ( neither of which panned out),lot's of Russian mail order bride spam and well agita. Live and learn.
Which brings me to another head scratcher. Where does one actually go to meet someone? Dating websites? I'm not the dockers,white picket fence type. Not saying that all the people on those sites are but from the looks of the commercial they all look like they stepped out of a Sears catalog. :) All neat,reserved,dressed nicely and white.
Conversely, I've been to some (not recently) "alternative" clubs...ie..goth clubs. Yes, I like the music,the "darkness of it all" thing but even there I don't fit in. I seem not to have the appropriate amount of piercings,tats, or dress cyber/goth/rivet head enough. Even within a sub culture of supposed outcasts..I'm a out cast. Heh.
I've been to bookstores and all. In an way it sullies the whole bookstore experience. I love to read and peruse periodicals....but then mixing in looking for a mate there..cheapens the experience.
I hope that makes sense. If not I shall provide a power point presentation laters on. :)
As for Bars or lounges...well I'm not much on drinking. I can nurse a beer for a good 2 hours or so.
What's that you say? Meet someone through a friend? That would be splendid but alas,I have no friends here.....here,meaning where i live.
So I've come to a slight impasse as it were. What to do?
