Iam looking for a job and all but somehting came up today and while I was filling out apps and faxing resumes. Now i know i hate when I get on a Kick like this because it gets me off track but its one of my fav bands of all time and one of my fav songs.
Its Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin some people say that there is backward satanic messages In the song. There are two songs in my stash that if the song is played backwards it talks about Satan and all. Iam not sure if its just a way for the haters to bust up one of the most popular classic rock bands of all time or is there really something to it.
Some signs lead to it being true. I think back in the late 70s ealry 80s Jimmy Page bought Aleister Crowley's house in Scottland which had become a well known Satanic church and was known as "The Toolhouse." In his books, Crowley advocated that his followers learn to read and speak backwards.Plant and Page wrote most of the song and their 4th album at an old mansion called Headley Grange in Liphook Road, Headley, Hampshire. It was a huge, old, dusty mansion with no electricity but great acoustics. Bands would go there to get some privacy and focus on songwriting. One night, in front of a roaring fire, Page strummed the chords to this for Robert. Plant wrote 90% of the lyrics right there in front of the fire. He has said in many interviews that he didn't seem to be writing, that something else was moving his pencil for him. Plant is a great admirer of all things mystic, the old English legends and lore and the writings of the Celts. He was immersed in The Lord Of The Rings around this time and many of his lyrics reflect that.
To this day most people say that the song does not ahve a maneing at all some say it has meaning of hope and beleveing i heven and some say that there are some other meaning to the song. Iam just not sure.
Led Zeppelin has for the most part ignored such claims; for years the only comment came from Swan Song Records which issued the statement: "Our turntables only play in one direction—forwards". Zeppelin producer Eddie Kramer confirmed this, calling the allegations "totally and utterly ridiculous. Why would they want to spend so much studio time doing something so dumb?"[22] Robert Plant expressed frustration with the accusations in an interview: "To me it's very sad, because 'Stairway to Heaven' was written with every best intention, and as far as reversing tapes and putting messages on the end, that's not my idea of making music."[23]
An informal experiment by scientist Simon Singh suggested that listeners only hear the message after prompting.[24]
