My bestest friend and the best companion anyone could ever ask for died yesterday. My Dog Sarge- A.K.A Littles, A.K.A The Roe dies yesterday afternoon after falling down a flight of steps. He was diagnosed with Diabetes a tad over 2 weeks ago. He was put on RX food and Insulin. Every morning I got up to give him his medicine and it appeared he was getting better.
He went blind over night and his the insulin was not working anymore. He had great spirits and even know he was severly sick he always managed to find his way on this big house to give us kisses and hugz. Yesterday I did a really dumb thing. I put him on the deck like I do every day. I turned around for one second to tell my wife something and we heard a terrible noise followed by screaming.
In our Horror we saw our little baby boy bleeding and holding his leg up. We rushed him to an Emergency vet where they immediately put him on Morphine. We prayed for a Miracle but the fates weren't listening this day. My little man broke his leg in 8 places, the bones just exploded in his body. This with his Diabetes and his severe arthritis was too much for him to handle. The Doctor suggested to end his suffering. My Sargie wanted to live, he kept trying to get to us. We only had a few minutes to say good bye.
IT just Wasn't enough time!!! I grabbed hand fulls of his hair hoping God would fix him but it didnt happen. My wife held him as he passed away. I held Zoey and watched my bestest friend slip into the abyss. I dream he is with God, chasing rabbits and squirrels. I hope he finds a nice spot to lay in with lots of breezes to sniff. I hope he is pain free and happy. If I had one wish it would be to hold him again and feel his breath on my neck.
My heart is broken from this and my wife is destroyed! he was our son, 7 years wasn't long enough. I miss you Sarge and I am sorry! You were the best thing anyone could ask for and I pray I get to see you again. I left all your toys where they were and your water out because I want you to come back home to us. I cant bring myself to pack your things up because that would be saying goodbye. You never asked anything of anyone and only wanted to make us happy. You were above anything Human and I will cherish the time I spent with you because it was the best gift I ever got.
You were my bestest friend and I will never love another creature the way I loved you! I will never forget you and I will tell Zoey about you so she never forgets the Sargie that watched her sleep and kept her safe every night.
