After spending $40 in long distance phone calls to two different states and spending alot of time on hold, I am pleased to say I have assisted authorities in capturing a Wanted Sex Offender! I did it by checking to see if he had a myspace account and from there took it to a higher level by tricking him into giving me his phone number on a special operations account I have set up for doing such details. Keep in mind though the registry says he is still wanted he was just picked up a hour ago and I received a call from Franklin County Sheriff's Department in Washington state verifying this.
I have the messages I sent him in this blog and have removed the links to my operations account because I currently have another wanted sex offender who has also given me his work and personal phone number and am just waiting for authorities to pick him up.
Here are the links to his account and the Tennessee sex offender registry on him. One thing I am pleased to say is Mr. Hammerberg will not be making it to the Branding Iron Bar tonight, (see messages at bottom).

On a much sadder note myspace and Sentinal Holding is a huge threat to these operations as they plan to launch a new program to delete registered sex offender accounts on myspace by building a database of registered sex offenders in the next 30 days. It will not work though because the sex offenders will then use fake names and fake photo's which will leave myspace users in more danger as they will have no way to check out people and see if they are sex offenders. While not common, criminals have used the site to solicit sex from underage members. Along with copyright issues, the protection of users from such activity is the highest priorities for the company as it looks to continue its rapid rate of growth.
Within the next month, technology from Sentinel Tech Holding called Sentinel Safe would be deployed. The technology would revolve around a database of the approximately 550,000 registered sex offenders and include identifying information that could be matched to profiles on the site.
"Sentinel Safe will allow us to aggregate all publicly available sex offender databases into a realtime searchable form, making it easy to cross reference and remove known registered sex offenders from the MySpace community," MySpace Chief Security Officer Hernanshu Nigam said in a statement.
The application is the result of joint work between the two parties. MySpace has advocated for amending sex offender laws to include registration of e-mail addresses.
Before the introduction of the technology, no efficient method of identifying sex offenders online had existed. MySpace has also announced it would dedicate a staff specifically to researching profiles, and deleting and blocking those who the system correctly identifies as sex offenders.
However, MySpace says the effort would not be enough unless Congress heeds its calls to force sex offenders to register their Internet identities. It would also work worldwide to have countries implement similar legislation.
