Damien the Fighter
When it came to fighting cystic fibrosis, Damien was an all-out warrior. He didn't let it stop him from graduating magna cum laude with a double major in philosophy and English at Towson University in 1997 or from working part-time at the Baltimore Times. He accomplished these feats in the last year of his life with 30 percent lung capacity and frequent intravenous (IV) treatments, sometimes even while hooked up to oxygen and/or feeding tubes. Learn more about his strength and determiniation in his bio.
Damien the Writer
Damien always had a knack for writing; in 1993 he took over his brother's high school column, "From the Eye of the Storm". As an English major at Towson, his short stories and poems were well-received by the faculty and students. Read his poems and stories, and learn more about his favorite writers.
