Yesterday, Thursday, June 3, 2010, I started working at the Verizon Wireless store in Jordan Landing, and let me tell you, they know nothing about customer services in that store. . .

As a customer you walk in and are greeted with, “Welcome to Verizon how can we help you today?” by someone who cannot answer any questions, all they can do is get you checked into the computer system, which by the way you do all the typing, and then tell you about how long the wait will be.  Once a rep does come over to you, you have to tell that rep why you are in the store today.

Another thing I have notice is that pretty much 65% of the people who go in are having some technical issue with their phone, and the other 35% come in having to activate a new phone and have the numbers moved from one phone to another.  So is it the customers who have no idea how to work a phone and in turn break it so they have to come in for technical support, or are the phones just POSes?  And how can Verizon keep their customers as happy as AT&T when they have to go into a store to get all their contacts moved over from one phone to another?  They should do as AT&T has done for years and put a chip in the phone that is programed with the customers' cell phone number, and storage for any and all contacts the customer puts into the phone so they can move it from phone to phone.

I guess I personally want more from a company then Verizon could ever give me.  I only want to go into a store every two years when my phone contract is up and I can get an upgraded phone.  Plus AT&T has phones that do not need the internet in order to work.  Why would you have nothing but internet phones?  Older people don't want to have to deal with the internet on their phone, they won't use it, so why make your phones only work if they have the internet on them?

On a personal note, I started work at 10:30am and did not get a break until 2:00pm.  I also got really sick and had to run to the back to throw up around 4:30/5pm, and then got told I could take a fifteen minute break at 5:30.  My feet, legs, knees, back, and arms were all killing me by the time I lift there.  And as I write this (9 am Friday, June 4, 2010) they all still hurt, even after taking 2 Tylenol Arthritis, 2 Excedrin Back & Body, 1 Excedrin PM, and 1 of my Naproxen.  If I do not get my first fifteen minute break today, at 2pm I am telling them I am done for the day and thank you for the opportunity.  Also I will go into Adecco and inform them of the poor work environment they have at Verizon.

Wish me luck, and wish Verizon luck, because if all does not go well I will be taking things up with their corporate offices, no breaks, that is just total BS.
