So, last night was Braun's Halloween Party. It was much more populated than last year, and I think more fun was had by all. I thankfully finished my witch costume about a half an hour before we had to leave. Tori wasn't able to come, which, honestly made me very sad. It was the first "Big" Braun's evet I have been to without her since we met. Well, except Easter weekend, but... there wasn't some big Braun's party for that. I spent Sat night of St. Patrick's Day with her, as well as the Toga Party. And if you look through my Braun's album, she was there for almost every week I took pics. In fact, I don't remember a weekend she WASN'T there.
A lot of people dressed up, and most of the costumes were very cute and fun. A couple were more of a WTF moment, but...*shrugs* what can you do? lol....
I was one of 4 Witches. And I got a free drink chip for participating. I didn't win any places, but I can always try for next year...lol. Maybe I will be able to stuff myself back into the Little Bo Peep costume by then. UGH. I couldn't get the stupid thing to zip. I have appparently gained quite a bit of weight since last year...lol... Time to try to get rid of some of it, methinks.
So, despite the fact that my usual group of friends was not who went to Braun's with me for the party last night (the usual group consisting of Steph, Tori, and TJ, primarily.) I still had a good time. Aric went, and actuallly dressed up, but he didn't try for the costume contest, as he did't feel like putting the hood back on by then. And honestly, I don't blame him. They definately waited a super long time before having the contest. It was almost 3 am I believe. A lot of people had left by then, which I suppose weeds out the non Braun's crowd somewhat, but at the same time, it kind of sucks for people who really had great costumes that could have competed. There was one couple who were dressed as Romans. They looked awesome. Unfortunately I never managed to grab them for a photo op. I think I got most of the people there however.
On Halloween itself, they have cancelled Trick or Treating. I'm rather put out by that. I LOVE Halloween, and I know that a LARGE part of the fun is going door to door and yelling Trick or TREAT! So, this year, if it's not raining, we will perjhaps do a driveby at the Zion church, for a bit of candy, then skip over to one or another of the Malls, which I believe are sponsoring a store to store trick or treat session. In lieu of the door to door variety. We will have to check it out and see. If all else fails, I will take the kid to the store and buy her a bag of candy...lol not that she cares about the candy. She is rather like me in that respect. She really couldn't care less abtou the candy, it is all about showing off her beautiful dress/costume.
I think we'll have to start thinking of next year earlier. I definately wanty to get her a Ren Gown, so that we can go to Ren Faire next year together one weekend. Of course, that means getting Aric something also, but I think with a little help from delencrie, we could get our little girls outfitted and the hubbies too. Then she could wear that for Halloween as well.
I will have to check out the Spirit Costume store on Nov. 1st. Everything in the store is 1/2 price then. Maybe I can find a medieval dress that Des could wear next year that will only need minimal altering. I really want a different gown myself. I am thinking more of an Irish style Chemise and Tunic Gown. It will be much more free flowing, and if Perhaps I am expecting, it will accomodate that as well. Less constricting, and not so much of a need for a corset...lol... I'll have to look into it.

Hmmm I went off on a tangent there. Krys, I really think that we should start planning something for next year's Samhain. With the kids and such as well.
