I had a relationship a few months. Well, more like 4 dates in five weeks. I probably shouldn't have started it because she was 25 and worked in the same building but not for the same company. Still, I try not to get invlolved with someone at work, to complicated.
I can't describe the first time I met her though. It was like, I knew that if I asked her, she would go out with me. I just knew she was attracted to me and I was attracted to her in a way that was not just looks. By the way, she wasn't smokin hot but to me she was beautiful in every way that counted to me.
After we started dating we started talking on the phone and each time we talked it wold be for hours or until the cell phone would die. When we went out we had great times. I would never tell her what we were going to do on our dates and I would always plan something different, something fun.
I made one mistake though, I told my manager that she may see me with this person and that I was dating her but that if she didn't condone it then I would reak it off. She surprised me and totally approved. She even encouraged me. I didn't even realize but she was one of those managers that gossips with everyone.
Well, several dates went by and I thought everything was going great but then a monday after our last date, she just ended it. Saying that there was to many rumors about us going around. She didn't care to have people she didn't know talk about us and it was bothering her.
She later gave me a chance to talk to her about it but before I could say anything she said "I know that you may be the one but my life was fine before I met you and I'm fine with going back to that. No matter what you say my mind is made up" She still insisted that it was the rumors that made her decision. It hit me hard but since then, I bounced back. haven't met any really potential dates yet but I'm just trying to get out there and see what life will bring.
It still bothered me that she only claimed rumors were the cause for her decision and I've had to deal with all the self doubting and questioning myself about if it could have been the age.
So, the other day when I was working late, I saw her walking with someone holding hands. I recognized the man. He works in the building also and He is at least 10 years older than myself.
Guess it wasn't the age, it was the rumors after all.
