Good Morning. March is roaring in like a lion. No not the Taco Bell Lions, which seem to be cuddlier then anything. But March is roaring in. Rain thunder boomers and yes lightning too. So perhaps winters bone chilling hold has released us? Perhaps more of a release for a better grip is more like it. Never less spring is just a blade or two of grass away.
I had a whole different set of missives to write on this morning but, mostly that was stopped in its tracks by an email, well actually a few emails. I normally go thru all emails and notes left to me over night first before I write anything for a couple of reasons. One inspiration and two I would hate to send an all cheery email to someone who just had a terrible setback or something worse. My first go through I found a video from a fellow Michigander that was from the Jimmy Kimmel Show and I laughed my ass off. Thanks Vic. The second and more touching was another Video but this one was more heart warming then sexily funny. It was on something I do not talk on very often. Perhaps I should but, do not ever wish to ruffle any feathers, get any dander up or just plain piss someone off. This one was on ABC News. Looks to be dated February 2nd and was titled “Man of the week.” These news videos sometimes get a third of my attention, more so listening but not viewing because I tend to get a lot of emails, jokes family letters you name it. I think if you have ever received the email titled which baby are you the November baby fits me to the T. Thanks Karen. But this video was more mesmerizing and took my full attention. Not many do. When I was a youngster in school I was classified with having an attention span of a Gnat. Now why on earth do they put a G in front of Nat? to make it a GAA-NAT I guess..anyway my attention span was that of a Gnat, sure I will fly around some fruit but put another piece near by and my attention to the first fruit left the premises. See! I am doing it again. The Video…. The video was about the Person of the Week and this week February 2nd was BERT BRADY. Yeah me too, who is Bert Brady. Many thanks go out to Denise for sending that video. Bert Brady is just a simple man. They start the video out showing him fix a cup of coffee for which he does daily. But the fixing of his daily coffee was not what made Bert Brady the ABC News Person of the week. It was what he did after his morning coffee. He would drive down to the airport and welcome home our service men arriving home from Iraq. No none were his children. No none were his neighbors children. In his own words. He said: “The first thing a soldier sees when arriving back home is all important to them”… He also recruits others to help in welcoming these fine people. You know, war is not the issue here. These service men and women did not ask to fight, they do not want to take life. But their country asked of them and they gave and like I said I am not condoning fighting or wars. But, for those who are our service men and women who give and sometimes give the ultimate sacrifice deserve a hero’s welcome like MR. Brady does on an everyday basis. No I do not talk about war. It’s been around since there was just a person or two. One wanting something they other had and knew no better way then to take it by force. The Video shows countless soldiers coming off their planes to welcome arms of strangers. Yeah… it is ah inspiring to say the least. I can not help but get teary eyed even trying to write about it. It’s not about war. It’s about people. To say an often over used term, “Can’t we all just get along” would be absurd. I have three nephews that were all military bred. Thank God they all did their tour of duty and made it back home safely. Although they did make it home safe not all do. So this man, this Bert Brady is a saint. A wise title for a humble man. A man who does not condone war but knows… The first thing a soldier sees when returning home is very important.
