Good Morning, hi there, howdy doody, and happy Friday. It’s a marvelous Friday. It’s stupendous, it’s…GOOD FRIDAY...whooo hoooo. Christians all over the world know this is the anniversary date of Christ’s crucifixion. I will not delve into the religious sectors of this wonderful planet as there are plenty of religious wars still plaguing this world and I adding my two cents would not make it better. So today… so today, I am going to be icky sticky licky sweet. So sweet the Cadbury bunny will taste like coffee… well perhaps not coffee, I do not want to ruin anyone’s fetishism with Chocolate or the consumption of it. Oh and no offense to Coffee either. I love the stuff… for the life of me I have no clue why… So sweet the I am going to be gooier then a peeps chick dunked in hot cocoa. Ewww, think about that goofy bird like marshmallow swirling around in cocoa and having to stare eye to eye with it… Now why do they put eyes on those peeps anyway? That’s just sick..but good to eat if you’r a mallow fan. Marshy mallow that is. So any egg hiding and hunting going on in the family this weekend? Gosh I loved doing that as a kid. There were always places to go that were either sponsored by the fire department or someone or something to raise money, or just plain have something for kids to do. Most lions clubs, lioness or elks you name it some club would have something going on the Saturday before Easter. It’s always fun to watch first time egg hunters in that amazement stare of all the other kids as if they held the key to the toy chest and you had to recite the Gettysburg address to be able to have a toy. Most places had like one or two or three grand prizes awarded to the child that came in with the golden egg leave the goose alone though… Other places would have a black egg, a silver egg you name it and I liked the real hard boiled egg hunts, not the goofy leggs eggs.. I mean come on… that would scare the pampers off any child finding one of those and thinking…my god… the size this Chicken/bunny must be that laid that egg. Why hell yes chicken bunny’s lay Easter eggs… come on play along… this is not a test just a trip into the sanctums of my adolescence. We often held our own Easter egg hunts for the girls inside the house. Every Easter morning the kids would plop down the stares and have to first off find their Easter basket, which always had a set of new clothes in it. I mean an outfit; lord knows the Easter bunny would not give each child a new wardrobe… But they would have a new outfit and candies that they liked. Jax was a PEEPs Connoisseur; I am quite surprised she did not invest into a stock portfolio of Peeps Marshmallow treats… Jax also was the egg hog. My gosh she was like an egg magnet. She perused the house and found most of the eggs all the time while Mandy was the Egg Hawk… She stood in the middle of the front room while the other two would gather eggs up and stash them on a couch or chair and then Mandy would pick and choose which egg she wanted and stick it in her own basket…Yeah I should have realized years ago this one was truly special. Jess and Jax had no idea the eggs they just found ended up in Mandy’s basket, they were too busy searching for more. Not many times was the weather permitting to host the event outside. Michigan has a tendency of raining on Easter or cold or you name it and then folklore would have it that additional weather of the same could be expected for future Sunday’s to come… Yeah, suppositious threats… Ah the times that make one smile to reminisce of those fun hunts. I would always tell the kids that I shot the Easter Bunny and they learned to know I was pulling their legs. Peeps, Cadbury bunnies, Malted Eggs, and Jellybeans just to name a few of those basket treats. That wacky plastic grass we always stuffed into the baskets. A stuffed animal would often be flopped over the basket as well… Easter… Yes a Christian Holiday for sure, remembering Christ crucifixion and the resurrection three days later, on the day we celebrate…Easter. You know, perhaps not all cultures embrace Easter as we Christians do but, that is what makes this world great even though there are some really ugly things in it. If we all believed the same as our neighbor their neighbor and so on and so forth….Well lets just say Columbus would have never discovered anything and their would be thousands of ships staying in one place and afraid to sail on….. Be yourself, hell, be a kid again and have a peep….ewww those things are icky sweet.. Happy Easter for those that recognize it and those who don’t I don’t mind. For there surely are things that others believe in that I don’t and you don’t and they don’t…but, I will not criticize anyone’s beliefs as I hope they do not criticize my own… A huge hug, and assorted pats. Marty
