ACTS OF VIOLENCE, ARE WE NUMB?
What we are watching unfold on our televisions, phones, I-Pads, and social media this afternoon is all too familiar. When will it stop, will it stop, what does all this mean for my son as he grows into what I hope to be a model citizen that cares for anyone he comes in contact with? As a parent, sibling, son, it honestly scares me. It can happen anywhere, at anytime. Of course we cannot live in fear, but rather live with both eyes always open and a heightened sense of sound.
I am watching the coverage on Action News, and I must say the network is doing a fantastic job walking us through the scene. One of the questions I am asking myself while ingesting this video and picture into my brain is: am I shocked or am I numb over yet another mass shooting by what I would call a coward or cowards?
My heart once again goes out to those directly connected to this violence, but also to YOU, my friend. We are all watching and listening to this together and we need to remember: no matter where we are, what we are doing, always pay attention to your surroundings. Also, we need to have a chat with our kids about the world we live in and teach them about "these bad people" and how they can stay safe if EVER in their lifetime they are put in the position like the innocent people of San Bernardino yesterday.
Children our the future and we have the power to steer them in the right direction!
