What are you waiting for?

*grumbles*

Well, the flowers are blooming and the pumpkins, gourds, cucumbers, squash, watermelons, peppers, tomatoes and herbs are producing *dances*

I just can't stand the powdery mildew on the vining veggies *sigh*

I sprayed last week with "veggie pharm" and went out today and cleaned up all the debris...I need to finish the rest this evening when it cools down again.  My plan is to fertilize tonight with "Age Old" blooming.  It is a liquid and feel that these last couple of feedings should be with something that has some "oomph" from the get go.  It is also organic :)  and then tomorrow night dust the garden again.  I'll take pictures tonight, the sunflowers are GORGEOUS!!!

I think I'll plant my cold crops next week...we've still had some 90 degree days and I feel like it's still too hot at night....

I'm stoked and I'm already planning the layout for next years crop *dances more*

Hope everyone is doing well!

BACK GARDEN

7-27-2011

Planted;

Rambling Red Stripe (cherry type red and green striped very sweet) in Buffalo Loam soil, strange stuff that soil…lite but holds water well…we’ll see how the tomato performs.

Strawberries;

Quinaul-spread 18” high yield if protected for birds (yes, I bought bird netting today *grin)

Fragaria-grown more for it’s pink flowers it spreads 24” and fruits rarely.

Fertilized

All veggies and herbs (except Rambling Red Stripe) with Happy Frog tomato and vegetable.

All flowers with Fertilome Blooming and Rooting.

I’m very blessed and will continue to take pictures.  It’s been a crazy season weather wise and I’ve heard of a few people that have lost their entire gardens *sad face*

HAPPY WEEDING…try to stay cool and drink lots of water!!!

Plants n SEEDS Planted!

Veggies and Herbs

Basil (plants)

Aristotle grows to 24-36”

Pesto Perpetuo grows to 36-48”

Basil (seeds)

Custom Blend sprouts in 5-10 days height unknown

Mint ‘Garden’ sprouts in 8-10 days, height 1-3’

Dill Bouquet sprouts in 20-25 days, height 30-36”

Tomato ‘Tumbling Tiger’ put this one in a hanging basket on sunny side of porch. Maturity 60-80 days yellow striped sweet cherry.

Cucumber (plant)

Cucumber Armenian Melon matures in 55-60 days

Need to trellis.

Flowers (plants)  I’m hoping the all reseed, they are listed as annuals.

Talinum ‘Limon’ 26-32” tall

Gomphrena ‘All around Purple’ 24” tall

Gazinia ‘Kiss Mix’ 8-10” tall

Scabiosa atropurea ‘Black Pincushion Flower’ 18-36” tall

I used EKO compost in the garden and Happy Frog potting soil for the flowers and Tumbling Tiger.  I used the eco because I  didn’t need an entire bag of Happy Frog soil conditioner.  Side note; I’m leaning towards the entire veggie garden being Happy Frog next year, the product seems to be superior so far.

I also fertilized with Happy Frog tomato and veggie fertilizer, giving the tomatoes I planted two weeks or so ago 1/3 cup each and all other crops 1/3 cup per row.  I used 4 tablespoons (as directed) while planted up the Tumbling Tiger.

things are popping up!!!

And it's not just the male morning mummers this time!!

The cucumbers (they popped in 3 days!) that I planted from seed last week are doing very very well and the other seeds (corn, pumpkin, watermelon, gourds and squash) are starting to pop!!!

I finally got the other side of the garden fenced and will be taking pictures later.

I'm going to blog about the different gardens and amendments and stuff tomorrow and will provide pictures to show growth rate etc. :)

HAPPY PLANTING!!

I'm absolutely loving it!!! Been sweating and working and weeding and diggin and sweating, but damn it's worth it!!!

I've decided (thanks for your help if you helped in my "garden journal" MuMM) to blog this stuffs and let you know how satisfying it is and how much I'm learning....I'm experimenting with different composts and fertilizers so that I know what/when to sell etc etc...

I'm excited to eat organically and welcome your thoughts on my gardens...if you want to view pics please see my defaults..I may take close up stuffs every once and awhile and place them in the blog if it’s a subject about pests or disease or something...

Anyway, this should be fun...
