We're updating the styling and functionality of the existing Chat box in the top center of every page.

Here's how it'll look:

The biggest changes are new chat messages will show up at the bottom of the box, instead of the top. Also, the text area to reply to someone to be rite below their name after clicking on the 'reply' icon/link next to the message.

We're also adding a larger 'pop out' version of the Chat area. You'll be able to pop-out your chat box, and close the rest of your fubar windows (if you want) that way you can chat with your homies from the office without The Man holding you down. Here's how that page will look:

We're working on adding 5 more levels to the site. We'd like most of the members of the site to experience the new levels, so we'll be easing up some of the requirements in the 31-40 range when we launch the new levels. We'll also be creating a Hall Of Fame page for the few members that were able to make it up to level 40 before we launch the new levels.

With the new levels you can expect some point/fubuck requirements like in the past, as well as the Achievement system and other requirements needed to move up from 41-45. We'll also be nerfing some of the older requirements that were bottlenecking too many people (such as the spotlight requirement :)).

ETA for levels 41-45 is about 1-2 weeks.

Stay tuned... we'll have a few surprises in there too and some new abilities for you to unlock as you level up. :D

hey everyone,

we had a major hardware failure (database) last night. due to our mad skillz and some good luck (mostly luck..) we were able to keep the site running, but we were unable to save the old private messages. they're gone forever to the big website in the sky.

on a positive note-- since everyone's inbox was reset, new messages and the site in general should be quicker.

sorry again guys. i'll make it up to everyone on friday.... ;)

Hey everyone,

We need to upgrade some equipment, so I need to bring the site down at Midnight PST tonight. It should only take about 10 minutes, but wanted to give everyone a heads-up. We'll be comping the 11PM and Midnight happyhour runners another happyhour on the house, in case they're effected. Cheers,

Starting on Thursday, we will begin enforcing a new policy for primary photos / avatars and it will apply to everyone. This does not effect non-primary photos (i.e.: random stuff in your photo albums), only the photo that you select to be next to your name everywhere on the site.

The policy will be:

* no bare chests. (men, or women... duh)

* no lingerie, bras, or underwarez.

* nothing deemed sexually suggestive, at our discretion.

Any primary photos which we find in violation of the policy will be marked as NSFW (even if they wouldn't normally have been marked NSFW had they NOT been a primary photo). Repeated offenses will result in suspension and/or removal of your account (the same as if you break other rules on the site, repeatedly).

We want as many people to have fun and enjoy the site as possible and quite frankly, some of you who've been abusing our lenient primary photo policies have started turning fubar.com into something a lot of us simply don't want to use, myself included. Well my friends, those days are over.

If you don't know the difference between a Porn site and a site for people 18+, you're at the wrong place and you need to take your short bus somewhere else.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to give you an update on some of the larger things we're working on for fubar. It's been awhile since my last blog post, since we've added other features on the site that let me keep you up to date on what's going on. :-)

Bling ordering -- This is a lot of work since we have to completely redo the 'my bling' page. But, in the very near future you'll be able to organize your top 100 bling and the 'my bling' page will be categorized based on bling-type (ie: favorites, limited edition, special ability (autos, bombs, etc)). We'll also be increasing the amount of bling that's displayed on the home page and public profile page.

fubar Lite -- A super simple home page without the normal 'header' (ie: no scrolling stuff, shoutbox, bartab, etc). new members will get this by default (while we experiement and see if people like it). existing members will be able to change their home page type to 'Lite' from the profile settings page if they'd like to try it out. Opting for this home page also removes the header from all the other pages on fubar, so it should make browsing much faster but less functional (since it'll be harder to stay up to speed on your bar tab etc).

toolbar -- We're working on finally moving the bartab, shoutbox, and blastbox out of the header and into a small 'docked' toolbar at the bottom of the browser window. this way, it'll free up a lot of page space for other content on the page and you won't have to continually scroll down the page. it should also make the pages run *much* faster inside your browser. we'll also be enhancing the shoutbox when it moves to the toolbar so it acts more like a traditional IM client (ie: dedicated window for each person you're talking to). another benefit is we'll have the option of putting more stats into the toolbar such as your point total, fuBucks, online friends, etc.

fuMafia -- As most of you know, we launched this yesterday. Eric650 has spent a lot of time working on this, and it's pretty awesome! we're still working on some filter settings so people who don't want to play aren't spammed by their friends and a bunch of other enhancements to the game.

album skins -- You'll soon be able to skin your photo album and individual photo pages like you can skin your profile page. All the existing profile skins will still work, but we'll be giving skin authors the option to flag skins as 'profile' or 'photos', and the people who install the skins will be allowed to apply the skins of each type to that specific area. We'll also be allowing skins to be applied per-album, so different albums can use different skins.

more special ability bling -- Like Cherry Bombs and Auto-11's before them, people have been asking for more special ability bling so we're working on a few ideas.

fubar Poker -- You've asked for it for ages, and we started working on it a week ago! Soon you'll be able to challenge your friends to a game of poker (here's a little secret, you'll be able to play against your lame friends on facebook while you're playing from fubar too!)

fubar messages -- We're modifying the message system to split notifications up into a seperate folder from your normal/person member-to-member messages. This way your gift/bling/game notifications won't drown out your random messages from friends. Part of this enhancement will be the addition of a 'Save' folder, so you can move any important messages there for easy access.

stay tuned.. the next few weeks might get a little crazy. :D

we're replacing some old hardware and adding some new stuff late tonight between 11PM and Midnight PST. during this time the site might be a little weird, and for 5-15 minutes probably unreachable for everyone. have no fear, everything should be back to normal by midnight (probably a lot sooner).

today we'll be replacing the level 32 spotlight requirement with something a little easier to attain. we'll also be resetting all the bids on the current spotlight, so you won't lose any fubucks or anything like that if you've bid on it. stay tuned...

edit: don't be too happy! the spotlight requirement is still in there, it's just at a higher level.... ;)
