The other day I did re-discover
A heart shaped locket, of finest gold
Given to me by sweetest Grandmother
Long Ago when I was four years old
The hinge now buckeled and bent
Patina now dull before my eyes
How did that happen? The wee dent
Open with care, a curl of her hair lies
No longer hidden in mind's pocket
By the light of this day, I now can see
The gift wasn't only the locket
But her lasting love...from her to me
