Okay. So you might think that it is a simple decision to make -- yea or nay -- but, to me, it hasn't been such an easy decision to make.
Before 1994, I had kept my hair permed on a regular basis to have some thickness and lift to my hair, as well as the curls. In 1994, though I moved to Charleston SC where, because of the humidity level there, it was recommended that I not continue with that tradition. In 1997, I moved back to Texas and worked on getting my hair back to normal from the massive humidity in Charleston only to relive the humidity levels when I moved back to Houston. The Houston folks also recommended no perms and even stated that the style has gone back to the straight hair being the thing to have.
In 2003, I moved back to Austin, after a 9 year hiatus...and my hair is very thin and straight -- and long.
I know this must sound somewhat vain... but what is a girl to do???? ;)
I don't like it being straight and long, especially, with how thin it is. Now, I could get it cut short, but I don't really like it short (albeit my hair does grow out fast). I hate that it is so thin and would love to have some curls; however, the only way that is going to happen (for the curls to stay for more than a whole 5 minutes) is to have a perm.
Is it truly faux paux to have perms these days????
QUESTION (1): Do I leave it long or cut it?
QUESTION (2): If I leave it long, do I perm it or not???
LOL...
