2007 Draft

Wow! So I spent part of the weekend watching the draft. I am proud to say that the University of Tennessee had 5 players drafted to the NFL this weekend as of the 6th round. That is as far as I got before heading out today. On another note, northeast colleges were well-represented as well. Connecticut, Boston College, University of New Hamphshire and the University of Maine all had players drafted! I am really looking forward to see what UT does to keep building their team, and of course I am on the lookout to see what the Patriots are doing :)

Ohio State vs. Michigan

Go OHIO State! But it looks from the score this was a great game! I have to say I was pretty certain they would win, and I'm glad to see the score was close. Now I can't wait to see how this all shakes out. I'm only bummed my Vols are not in it at this point. There is next year though! I continue to have hope for them to get back to a National Championship!

I usually leave some commentary or thoughts. I actually missed most games, because I was at the County Fair. All my college teams won - yay! In the NFL, The Pats beat the Cats! Who knew! College: Let's start with Ohio State. They played a great game continuing to demonstrate why they are #1. Joe P. left the field early. He just ran off the field. There was no mention why. At his age, I kind of wondered if he had to go pee. Nope - I found out later he was battling the flu. What a coach, though, to show up and try and work the game while he must have been feeling that bad. Tennessee won the game against Marshall. Not a shocker there, but a win is a win. Go VOLS!!!! USC again continues with another win. They could easily be #1, so it may come down to schedules this year. Go USC! Pete Carroll is one hell of a college coach. BC lost in a heartbreaker. The game came down to the last 8 seconds. NC State came from behind with a TD. Oh, and BC had led all the way to the end. I was so dejected by such a shocking loss that I just went to bed. It was after 11pm afterall, and ND was losing sadly to Michigan - by a lot. I got up on Sunday, sat down to read my sports page, and what do I see? An amazing comeback by ND in less than 3 minutes to play in the game!! Unbelievable! The game I did NOT stay up and watch. Go figure...that will teach me. Go ND!!!!!! LSU had an awesome display of offense this weekend. I am not a fan of LSU, but I know a lot of my friends are, so I have to give a little here. NFL: WEll the Jets beat Buffalo. Good game! The scores were not too far away. And Miami went past Tennessee for the win. NE faltered to Denver in the evening. Poor NE. They really have a tough time with Denver every year. I cannot always figure out why, but they certainly have Coach B figured out. Hmmm...the AFC East is shaping up as interesting, huh? I actually spent time watching the Bengals and Pit. The cats did a wonderful job exploiting any weakness that Pit had that day. Indy beat Jax, and I was not surprised by that win. Go Peyton and Co. I am not so much an Indy fan. I am a Manning fan. Seattle showed the Giants why they went to the Superbowl and not them. They looked great everywhere on Sunday. Poor Eli and Co. The thrill of the week was last nights game at NO! The crowd was crazy, and the game was too fantastic. NO could do no wrong. The Brees/Bush duo totally outdid the Vick/Dunn duo last night. I said it last night, and it's worth saying again - I would have hated to be a falcon last night. They had to have felt something in the air the minute they came in. They had to know they were NOT America's team last night, and I could only imagine how they must have felt. But - NO did a super job! They hosted their first home game, and it was spectacular. Is this a new era in NO football? They are 3-0. Only 6 teams are 3-0. SIDE NOTE:: A HUGE thank you to both Franklin and Iceman for hanging out with me during the game! It helped me stay up as long as I could take it. Thanks loads! It was a lot of fun! (I am up at 5am on weekdays, so going to bed as late as that makes it rough the next day...so far I made it.) Upcoming Games: College and AFC East --Penn State @ Ohio State (ohio 28 Penn 6) YAY!!! --Marshall @ Tennessee (Tennessee 33 Marshall 7) YAY!!! --USC @ Arizona (USC 20 Arizona 3) YAY!!! --BC @ NC State (NC 17 BC 15) OK IM UPSET...THIS IS THE GAME I WATCHED...I WAS IN SHOCK AT THE END!!! --ND @ Michigan State (ND 40 Michigan ST. 37) YAY!! I AM A COMPLETE IDIOT FOR GOING TO BED BEFORE THE END OF THE GAME! --Tulate @ LSU (LSU 49 Tulane 7) WOW!!! --Jets @ Buffalo 1pm (Jets 28 Buffalo 20) --Tennessee @ Miami 1pm (Miami 13 Tennessee 10) --Denver @ NE 815pm (I hope I can make it - I am having a hard time staying up for this knowing how early I have to get up tomorrow. Other: --Cinci @ Pittsburgh 1pm (Cinci 28 Pit 20) --Jacksonville @ Indy 1pm (Indy 21 Jax 14) --Atlanta @ NO (1st HOME GAME!!!!!!!!!) Monday 830pm --Giants @ Seattle 415pm (Se

Saturday was a great football day. BC, Ohio State, USC all came through. Unfortunately, ND fell apart in the defense. They need to really pick it up. Sorry, I am not so sure Brady Quinn is going to get Heisman after that game. For those LSU fans, they had a close close tough game. Florida beat the Vols on their home turf - ugh - that is never cool. As for Sunday, I really didn't get a chance to see any games. I checked into the NE game here and there, and that was really it. I did have a friend visit that I hadnt seen in over a year. She drove 6 hours to hang for the day. We had a brilliant day catching up. So it was worth missing some football for that. I will definitely be back at the games next week, though, as I can't let 2 weeks go with out watching! College and AFC East: --BYU @ BC (BC 30 BYU 23) --Cincinnati @ Ohio State (Ohio St 37 Cinci 7) --Michigan @ ND (Michigan 47 ND 21) --LSU @ AUB (AUB 7 LSU 3) --Nebraska @ USC (USC 28 Nebraska 10) --Florida @ Tennessee (Florida 21 Vols 20) --Buffalo @ Miami (Buf 16 Miami 6) --NE @ Jets (NE 24 Jets 14) Other: --Houston @ Indy (Indy 43 Houston 24) --NO @ Green Bay (NO 34 Green Bay 27) --Giants @ Philly (Giants 30 Philly 24) --KC @ Denver (Denver 9 KC 6)

Friday Night Lights!

Yeah, I can't get enough. I had to go to the high school football game tonight. Actually, I really did. You see, the high school I went to and graduated from is the next town over. My daughter, of course, goes to the high school here. They play each other once a year (unless they face off in the playoffs). It has turned into such a rivalry over the years. The trash talk is hilarious. Anyways, my high school beat my daughter's high school - again. 35 - 10. Actually my high school is 2x defending state champs, and they are very hard to beat. On top of that, my cousin plays on my high school's team. He is a Junior, and he has yet to lose a high school football game - undefeated the last 2 years and still going strong. It's very cool.
