What are you waiting for?

28th February 2007 It is time for an update. So here we are 44 weeks after surgery and now 100% again. It helped having a holiday in Goa two weeks ago and a holiday I will never forget. It was the best one ever had, everything just went like clockwork. I had many Indian Head Massages from people who knew what they were doing that is. One was a barber and the experience in the barber's chair was the closest anyone could say they came to making love legally in public with a perfect stranger. It was uplifting. The beach massage left me floating and the masseur had been fully trained in Bombay. So not only did he have the gift of the third eye he also knew all about the Chakras, meridians, how to do reflexology and how to massage a head avoiding the areas that needed avoiding without being asked. He was wonderful. All the head massages certainly cleared any last remaining gunge that lurked, because prior to going to India my head was exploding due to the High Atmospheric Pressure we were suffering. I don't know how I managed to pack but made sure I did. The flight was no problem at all except that the air conditioning was set too cold. A blanket surficed but then it was better than being over hot. I discovered why my head was exploding and this was due to the fluid leaking out through the bone flap and getting under the skin - so it was not the bone expanding as I thought but the skin and underlying muscle that were under pressure from the fluid. This has gradually dissipated naturally thank goodness and the massages cleared the last lot. It has been 45 weeks since my last seizure and what I have achieved due to all the complications I have to be thankful for. Amazingly, I finished a book started in 1998 and took it to India where it is being printed after two very gifted artists finish doing the illustrations and the cover for me. That was Serendipity at its height meeting them and I am so lucky that they had the time to fit it in for me because they are both art teachers, have a big project on at present as well as running a home which was out of this world and looking after a family. Also they have their graphics business to run as well. Had I not had the surgery then probably the book would never have been completed - not that I set out to write one, it just happened and all came together. My memory has improved and that is according to the Neuropsychologist who did follow up tests. I scored badly on any boring task but the complicated ones I did well on so perhaps that is to do with focus and interest. The test showed that I have speeded up and intelligence levels are as good as before so cognitive functioning and the ability to make new memories have not been affected. The machine I used was made by Snowden Healthcare and is called Medicur. It has been a godsend for many types of pain and those who say it is all in the mind I just ignore because the placebo affect has been tested with double blind tests and more on the machine. If they think it is all in the mind then let them heal themselves. I am very contented with life at present and apart from the odd mood swing everything is perfect as perfect goes but I still dislike housework and tedious chores. Certainly my energy levels have improved but it is a battle getting rid of those excess inches that abound around the waist line. I suppose I will just have to face up to the fact that I will never fit into those gorgeous size 10 leather trousers again and give them to someone with a sylphlike figure. My friend is very pleased with my change of personality and how I handle situations these days but my husband is none too please because I now say what I think and am not down trodden anymore. Things will only get better and I am really pleased that I had the surgery for all that it has enabled me to do and who I have become. The only thing I do regret is not being able to draw very well but then we can't expect miracles overnight!!
