A classic family favorite in every house. This oatmeal cookie recipe is very basic with easy to follow instructions. A perfect after school snack or quick dessert.
Ingredients
3/4 C. vegetable shortening
1 C. brown sugar
1/2 C. granulated sugar
1 egg
1/4 C. water
1 tsp. vanilla
3 C. uncooked oats
1 C. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. soda
Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Beat together shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy.
3. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
4. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
Variations: You can add chopped nuts, raisins, chocolate chips, or coconut.
Yield: about 5 dozen
