I have been friends with this guy for FIVE YEARS and today am told that since he was falling for this girl really hard.. he couldn't be my friend anymore

is she THAT insecure? i mean ffs.. he lives 8 freaking hours from me now.. how the HELL am i supposed to go do anything with him?
or is it HIM? is it that HE can't be friends with females when he has a girlfriend?
Thinking back... he has made disappearances before.. i assumed he was busy.. but was it that he had a girlfriend and just COULDN'T be friends with me?
i have NEVER slept with the guy.. have never kissed the guy.. never ANYTHING with the guy
but because he has a damn girlfriend i lose out on a damn friend..
