DemonStorm's blog: "Everyday Life"

created on 03/02/2007  |  http://fubar.com/everyday-life/b60667
OK it's time to use the power of the blog. I will be posting this blog up at several sites, not just this one. My roommate and I had Lingo for a few months before realizing all the hidden charges they were collecting from us. In April of this year, we tried to cancel and were given assurances that our service was cancelled and there was nothing else to worry about. Well, 6 months later WE ARE STILL GETTING BILLED MONTHLY no matter HOW many times we call and talk with a supervisor. Tonight, we've finally contacted our bank and said enough's enough. Now I used to work as a federal skip-tracer, so I thought I'd see just what I could dig up on this company. How about this for starters? They've inflated their NASDAQ (PRTL) share price and are now under investigation by the U.S. SEC (Securities & Exchange Commission). But this next part is where it got interesting. Their Executive Vice President is a gentleman by the name of John DePodesta who is also listed in PrimusTel's charter as their CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER. He allegedly graduated Penn State and Harvard with a law degree. Funny thing is, after running searches on BOTH Findlaw.com and Martindale.com, there's not a single John DePodesta in this country with an active law degree. So how can he POSSIBLY be their Chief Legal Officer? I also found out he makes approximately $636,000 a year in base pay, bonuses and stock options. Must be nice when the company you helped to create is ripping off consumers left and right. And for those reading my blog? Don't take my word for it, go to www.ripoffreport.com and type "Lingo" into the company search box... see what you come up with. Anyway, I have a bunch of stuff ready to go for Monday morning. Not the least of which is a call to Mr. DePodesta, Esq office regarding not having a license to practice law but STILL being the company's Chief Legal Officer. Let me know what you think and stay tuned for more updates.

My Son's School

They're a charter school but it's obvious they don't give a good goddamn about their students. About 3 - 4 weeks ago, we call the Assistant Principal and tell her (Laura), that we need a student support meeting with our son and all his teachers. Laura said NOT A PROBLEM and would get right on it. Then Peggy and I had this trip to NYC to make and as you know we got home REALLY early this morning. I asked my son how it was coming for setting up the student support meeting because we hadn't heard anything. What happens next is indicative of ANY school and COMPLETELY pissed me the fuck off... He stated, and I quote... "Janel (my son's Advisor) said that it got too complicated because everyone's schedule is different so it's not going to happen (the support meeting)" I was fucking furious... Not at my son mind you but at his school. His Assistant Principal orders the Student Support Meeting, and his Advisor sees fit to just up and IGNORE HER?!? I can't wait until I walk in that school again... His Advisor blatently disobeyed a superior's orders... In the military, you'd be labelled as a traitor for disobeying a direct order, believe me I know. But I'll be nicer than that... Janel will be called into the Principal's office in front of her students, and I will personally see to it that her tenure at that school doesn't last much longer. DemonStorm

Decision Time - Part 2

In Salina, KS at a truck stop, we hear the weather out west is NOT pretty. Calling for 8 - 12 inches in spots, 12 - 24 inches in others. Truck drivers are deciding whether or not they want to risk punching the state line. We were told it would be several hours before we'd hit the storm. The winter storm was heading east and we were headed west from Salina to Denver in a 2005 Blue Pontiac Sunfire with front-wheel drive (thank gods for small favors). So then we do it... We decide we're going to punch the state line and see just how far we can get before they start shutting down portions of I-70. We load up on food, coffee, get the blankets and pillows out of the trunk and put them in the back seat and basically say "Let's roll" It started raining about 10 - 12 miles east of the Kansas / Colorado state line along I-70. OK no worries, it's rain we can handle that. Then after a bit of driving in Colorado, we get a few flurries. Hey not bad. Then it hit like someone just over-turned a damn big bucket of snow up in heaven and was laughing his ass off. Suddenly we were slowing down from 70 - 45/50mph and no faster. OMG it's slushy and it was a fucking mess. So rather than getting home at midnight like we were anticipating, we got home at about 2:45am Mountain Time... No accidents, fender benders and no slide-offs. Then we saw it as we walked in the house and walked upstairs... OUR OWN FUCKING BED that we hadn't seen in a week. I guess you can figure out the rest. Decision Time - Part 1

Now we have a decision to make. We've just found out that they've jacked the tolls along I-80 through western Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana. WONDERFUL. So we decide to jump I-76 take that to I-71 and then jump the I-70 to go home. The only toll along I-70 is at Topeka, KS Exit 183 for $2.00. So that decision was made even though Kansas is a boring ass drive. We stayed on I-70 for a while before coming into Central Kansas in Salina. This is where is got interesting... Time for Decision #2. DemonStorm

Driving Home Along I-80

OK we're in Pennsylvania on Interstate 80 and almost to the Ohio state line. I'm going 69 in a 65mph zone, and the reason I know this is that I had my cruise control set for that very reason. I had a Pennsylvania State Trooper slide in behind me and I looked up at my rear-view mirror and saw him tapping away on a keyboard. "Fucking wonderful. Out of state plates and I'm gonna get fuckin popped for doing 4 over the limit." Well, a gold Acura passes the cop AND ME doing about 72! The cop looked over at this guy and just shook his head in stunned disbelief. He slides out from behind me as the Acura changes to the lane I'm in. I decide I'm gonna be nice to this cop and hit the brakes. The Trooper slides between me and the Acura and does his necessary tapping away on the laptop then about a minute later, the christmas lights come on. I immediately change lanes to the left lane to give this guy room to pull dude over and the instant I saw the lights go, I yelled out "GOT HIM! Dumbfuck passing a goddamn cop, how smart is THAT?" Obviously not very... Hopefully he got written a hefty ticket. Oh and one other thing... The guy he pulled over? Was a Pennsylvania local DemonStorm

The Funeral & NYC

The Big Apple... Never do get tired of seeing the place. Big city, rude people, cars whizzing down the streets of Manhattan doing what seems like 130mph... It's all a part of the NYC experience. We walked around 1 World Trade Center Drive, ate in a true NYC Bagel Shop and stayed in what's called a Hostel in Manhattan's Upper West Side. We rode the subway (It was CaliforniaMoonKid's first subway ride), talked to alot of different people, and decided it was time to come home. The funeral was nice... Short and sweet and enough for me to just get the heck outta there and start coming home. All-in-all it was a nice trip. But I'll never go back to the city. You may ask why that is, and this is why... NYC may always be my home... but every tie I had to NYC died with my grandmother. Now....... I have no reason to go back. DemonStorm

Easter & Ham - Correlation?

OK I've always found this kind of ironic... Millions of people worldwide celebrate Easter by eating sprial ham or some other type of ham product that people love so much... But here's the thing: Back in the time of Christ, pork was considered unclean and therefore was forbidden to eat... So don't you think it's just a BIT ironic that we celebrate the resurrection of christ by eating ham?!? Just a thought... What do you think? DemonStorm

What The Hell?

This is amazing... MSNBC has reported that while immigrants are flooding major metropolitan areas, native-born americans are fleeing these areas for better living conditions and lower cost of living. So what does this tell you? Better living conditions?!? Are the immigrants really making it that bad to live in the metro areas? Isn't it about time that "bring me your tired, your poor, your homeless" comes to an end? Case in point... I was APPROVED for a Federal Pell Grant to go back to school at the University of Denver, but I received a letter from the Department of Education that stated although I was approved, there's no more funds left to transfer the funds to me. GODDAMN! I bet if my name were Habib Muhammad I would get approved in a damn heartbeat!! What do YOU think? Here's the link.... Immigrants Flooding Major Metropolitan Areas DemonStorm

What A Day Today...

OK some of you know (now all of you do) that I work as a Federal Skip-Tracer as my full-time job... What a day I had today! Friend of mine asked me to find someone for her, and not only did I find this guy but he works for an aerospace firm... He turns around and puts $20,000 on a credit card as a down payment for his defaulted student loans like we throw a couple of bucks at McDonald's. Must be nice... I'm in the WAYYYY wrong line of work I swear to gods.
