Genesis
Every story has a beginning. Every good story has an anti-hero. And what is an anti-hero? By definition alone it's the individual that is in essence a villian. But in this story it means much more. It's a man who doesn't want to be the hero. He just wants to live his life.
Our anti-hero in this story may be a hero to some. He may also be a villian to others. But this anti-hero is much more. He's a man looking for redemption. A man looking for forgiveness from those he hurt. And what has this man done to make him think he has done that much wrong? Well lets start at the beginning.
And as you read, you be the judge. Does he deserve forgiveness? Is he as bad as he thinks he is? And further more... will he ever get his true love? Well, let's read and find out?
September 1992
We join our anti-hero in front of the family homestead. His name at the time is Chris, but as the story goes on you will know him as....
Drake Tauru.
Chris had returned from Military Boot Camp a month earlier. During his time there, He struck a correspondance with a girl named Jennifer. And they dated briefly. During that time they had had sex. Then they broke up.
Now we join them as Jennifer is about to give Chris some life changing news:
Jennifer: Chris, I have something important to tell you.
Chris: What are you pregnant? (he says this in a joking manner)
Jennifer: How did you know?
Chris: Are you fuckin' serious?
Jennifer: Yes. What are we gonna do?
Chris: I dunno.
Jennifer: I'm scared.
Chris: You ain't the only one.
Jennifer: So....?
Chris: I need time to figure this all out. Give me a week.
Jennifer: We have to tell our parents.
Chris: I said give me a week, I'll figure this out.
Jennifer leaves the family homestead. The look of fear all over her face. Chris on the other hand shows no sign of worry. Remember he had just got back from boot camp. He had been trained to handle these types of situation calmly. Little does he know, things are gonna get very complicated.
2 days later
We again at the family homestead. Mom and Dad approach Chris. A look of concern on mom's face. A look of anger and disappointment on Dad's.
Dad: Chris we need to talk.
Chris: What did I do now?
Dad: You know what you did.
Mom: Jennifer told us.
Chris: What the hell! I told her to give me a week.
Mom: Don't get mad at Jennifer. She's scared. She didn't know what to do.
Chris: Dammit.
Mom: Well, she told her parents and they kicked her out.
Chris: What! Those bastards.
Dad: And now she's gonna live with us because I'm not gonna let my future grandchild and her mother live out on the streets.
Mom: Why didn't you tell us?
Chris: Because....I'm a man. I'll do things my way.
June 1993
2 days before Advanced Infantry Training.
Parker, son of our anti-hero, comes into this world. He would be the beginning of the evolution of Drake Tauru.
And now our story begins.
