I know I am here, yet I feel gone

I know I am seen, yet I feel invisible

I know I am speaking, yet I feel unheard

I know I am a child, yet I feel motherless

I know I am learning, yet I feel ignorant

I know I am optomistic, yet I feel bleak

I know I have love, yet I feel so much contempt

I know I am beautiful, yet I feel so ugly

I know I have clarity, yet I feel so confused

I know I have youth, yet I feel so decrepid

I know all this, yet I know so little

How is it that what we have and feel and what are presented to us are so different? The effect that others have on our perception can truly alter what we know, reducing it to the antithesis.
