Dragon Magick is the calling upon of Dragons to aid you and become co-magicians with you. Dragon Magick can be practiced on its own or along with other Magickal Traditions. Dragon Magick is not for everyone. Those who practice Dragon Magick must be self-disciplined seekers who realize the potential dangers but dares to communicate with and befriend this vast astral power of the ages. It is for the Magician who is serious about changing his/her life and the living space around them. When a Magician dances with Dragons, as the practice of Dragon Magick is called, he/she discovers an intensity of power never before tapped. When tapped into this intensity, it is exhilarating and a Spiritual high. When you are befriended by Dragons as Co-magicians they can empower your rituals no matter what tradition you practice far beyond what you have normally encountered. Their grasp of ancient knowledge is deep and profound. Their ability to see through layers of time both present and past as well as the future is astounding and quite accurate if they choose to reveal what they see to you. As protectors during rituals or everyday life there are no equals. If you are chosen by Dragons under their tutelage you will have the opportunity of constantly learning and evolving your knowledge and magickal ability. If you take the time to forge a friendship with Dragons they can become the best companions you would ever want. Although this companionship can seem too harsh and demanding it is always in your best interests. A lifelong dance with Dragons is never boring for it is a constant exploration of various types of energies and the uses in which these energies can be applied. Dancing with Dragons can be a joyful, daily experience and one that is eagerly sought after by all participants for the mutual sharing of energies during ritual as well as in life helps out both species in their evolution and spiritual growth. The more that Magicians seek out the companionship of Dragons, work with them, and earn their trust the more Dragons will be encouraged to once again have a closer, positive relationship with humans in general just like they did in olden times. Just like the old maps that had signs posted "Here Be Dragons" denoting unexplored regions of our world, at the very edges of our mental and psychic realms are signs that read "Here Be Dragons". Well there are a few things you should learn before hand. 1) Not everyone is supposed to work Dragon Magick. Before you work with dragons, take some time to look at yourself. Do like dragons for who they are, or are you just interested in power? Do you feel you would do better in other areas of magick? If you feel dragon magick is not for you, then don't do it. 2) Dragons are not evil in anyway. If you think they are, you’re in the wrong place. Dragons are creatures of wisdom and knowledge, and provided great protection and can lend great power when needed, but only to help, never to harm. 3) Dragons are picky about who they work with. They know people's true intentions, and will only show themselves if they are sure that they can trust you. 4) Dragons will not work with silly things like love spells or anything of the sort. 5) Dragons are great with Protection and Healing Magick 6) Have fun!! Dragons love to relax after ritual. Dancing and Singing are their favorite ways to let loose. 7) Always be polite. Ask them to join you and thank them when they leave. They hate rude people. These are just a few things you should know about dragons. After time, they will tell you want they want from you. SOME ARE DEPICTED AS HUGE WINGLESS SERPENTS, OTHERS ARE MORE LIKE THE TRADITIONAL PICTURE WE OF THE WESTERN WORLD HAVE OF DRAGONS: HEAVY BODIES WITH WINGS. DRAGONS ARE SHOWN WITH FOUR LEGS, TWO LEGS, OR NO LEGS AT ALL. SOME DRAGONS WERE SAID TO HAVE AN ARROWHEAD-POINTED TAILS, WHILE OTHERS HAD SPIKED KNOBS ON THE END OF THE TAIL. SOME HAVE TWISTED HORNS, OTHERS LONG ANTENNAE RATHER LIKE THOSE OF MOTHS. BUT THE DRAGON, IN WHATEVER FORM, IS THERE IN THOUSANDS OF FOLK STORIES, REGARDLESS OF THE DESCRIPTION ATTACHED TO IT. HUMANKIND HAS A SUBCONSCIOUS KNOWLEDGE OF THE DRAGON AND ITS POWERS THAT EVEN THE ASSUMED THIN VENEER OF SO-CALLED CIVILIZATION CANNOT REMOVE. BUT WHAT ARE DRAGONS? ARE THEY REAL OR IMAGINARY? IN THE WESTERN WORLD, OUR WORD DRAGON COMES FROM THE GREEK DRAKON AND THE LATIN DRACO. DRAKON COMES FROM A VERB MEANING TO SEE, TO LOOK AT, OR POSSIBLY TO FLASH. CERTAINLY IN MOST LEGENDS DRAGONS SPEND THEIR TIME WATCHING, WHETHER IT BE TREASURE, TERRITORY, OR THE SUPPOSEDLY CAPTIVE MAIDENS. THE WORD DRAGON IS USED IN MANY DIFFERENT FIELDS, AS DIVERSE AS ASTROLOGY, ASTRONOMY, ALCHEMY, MAGICK, HERALDRY, PSYCHOLOGY, AND THE STUDY OF DREAMS. FROM THE TIME THAT HUMANS BEGAN TO RECORD THINGS, DRAGONS HAVE BEEN MENTIONED. IN ASTRONOMY, THE ANCIENT CONSTELLATION OF DRACO IS IN THE NORTHERN HEAVENS AND CURVES IN A WINDING PATTERN BETWEEN THE BIG AND LITTLE DIPPERS. THE STAR DRACONIS IS A BRILLIANT DOUBLE STAR. THE CONSTELLATION HAS PROBABLY SHIFTED OVER THE MILLENNIA AND MAY HAVE ONCE BEEN THE POLESTAR TO WHICH THE PYRAMID OF CHEOPS WAS ALIGNED. ANCIENT ASTROLOGERS CALLED THE NORTH NODE OF THE MOON CAPUT DRACONIS, OR HEAD OF THE DRAGON, AND THE SOUTH NODE CAUDA DRACONIS, OR TAIL OF THE DRAGON. THE NODES (THE ACTUAL MEANING IS "KNOT" OR "COMPLICATION") ARE NOT PLANETS BUT POINTS WHICH RELATE THE MOON'S ORBIT TO THE ACTUAL ORBIT OF THE EARTH AROUND THE SUN. IN ASTROLOGY THE NODE SYMBOLIZES INTAKE AND POSITIVE ASPECTS, THE SOUTH NODE RELEASE AND NEGATIVE ASPECTS. THESE DRACONIC NODES ARE STILL CONSIDERED IMPORTANT TO TODAY'S ASTROLOGERS. IN ALCHEMY, THE DRAGON WAS CONSIDERED TO BE MATTER, METAL, AND THE PHYSICAL BODY. OFTEN MENTIONED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE DRAGON WAS THE DRAGON'S SISTER: SPIRIT, METALLIC MERCURY, AND THE SOUL. ANCIENT ALCHEMY USED THE PICTURE OF A DRAGON OR WINGED SERPENT AS ONE OF ITS MANY SECRET SYMBOLS. A COMMON SYMBOL OF SPIRITUAL ALCHEMICAL WORK WAS THE DRAGON OR SERPENT HOLDING ITS TAIL IN ITS MOUTH, AN UNENDING CIRCLE OF ETERNITY. NEAR THIS CIRCLED DRAGON WAS WRITTEN THE GREEK MOTTO EN TO PAN OR "ALLIS ONE". THE FABLED PHILOSOPHER'S STONE OF ALCHEMY WAS ALSO CONSIDERED THE ONE WHICH IS ALL. THIS STONE WAS CLOSELY CONNECTED IN ANCIENT WRITINGS WITH THE GREAT WORK OF ALCHEMY; THE GREAT WORK SIMPLY MEANS HUMANKIND BECOMING GOD, OR MERGING WITH THE SUPREME CREATIVE FORCE WITHIN, THUS COMPLETING THE CYCLE OF HUMAN GROWTH BY RETURNING TO THE SOURCE.

Dragons - Air The element of Air governs the eastern quarter of the circle. Its dragon ruler is Sairys (sair'-iss), who oversees the dragons of breezes and winds. Air's color is pure yellow, and is considered warm and moist. The positive associations of Air are sunrise, spring, incense, the wand, the gong or bell, clouds, breezes, the breath, optimism, joy, intelligence, mental quickness, renewing, any kind of helpful air. Negative associations are frivolity, gossip, fickleness, inattention, bragging, forgetfulness, windstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, destructive air in any form. An Invocation to the Dragons of Air Choose music that either represents to you either storms or light, breezy winds. Dancing and singing should make you think of wind blowing across the land. Use candles or other objects of a pure yellow color. Choose herbs and oils that are of the element of Air. Repeat this chant three times: "Dragon ruler of wind and cloud, I call your secret name aloud. Sairys (sair'-iss)! (Ring gong once). Quicken my mind, renew my life. Grant me joy free from strife. Sairys! (Ring gong once)" Dragons - Earth Earth rules the Northern quarter, and Grael (grail) is its dragon ruler. Earth's color is clear, dark green, and it is cold and dry. Positive associations are midnight, winter, the wine chalice, ritual salt, dragon bowl, gem bowl, dragon mirror, gemstones, mountains, caves, soil, respect, endurance, responsibility, stability, prosperity, thoroughness, purpose in life. Negative associations are rigidity, unwillingness to change or see another side of a problem, stubbornness, lack of conscience, vacillation, earthquakes, and landslides. Earth dragons are the most placid, unless required to stir up destructive forces such as earthquakes. An invocation to the Dragons of Earth Music should be slower, and perhaps heavier, and dancing should be statelier. Use candles of a green color, and herbs and oils from the element of Earth. Repeat this chant three times: "From your mountain caverns deep, Rise Northern Dragon, from your sleep. Grael (grail)! (Ring gong four times), Lead me to riches, purpose true, Endurance strong. I call on you. Grael! (Ring gong four times)." Dragons - Fire The element of Fire governs the Southern quarter of the circle, and that elements dragon ruler is Fafnir (faf'-near), who oversees the dragons of fire and sunbeams. Fire's color is pure red, and is considered warm and dry. The positive associations of Fire are noon, summer, the dagger and sword, candles, incense burner, any kind of helpful fire, the sun, blood, enthusiasm, activity, change, passion, courage, daring, will power, leadership. Negative associations are hate, jealousy, fear, anger, war, ego, conflicts, lighting, volcanoes, and harmful fire of any kind. An invocation to the Dragons of Fire In your dance and singing, imitate the movement of flames. Choose music that reflects this imagery. Use candles or other objects of a pure red color. The herbs and oils should be of the element of Fire. Repeat this chant three times: "In your cavernous, fire-filled hall, Echoes the name that I now call. Fafnir (faf'-near)! (Ring gong twice). Stir my blood with will power bold. Create new changes from the old. Fafnir! (Ring gong twice)." Dragons - Water The element of Water rules the western quarter of the circle. Its dragon ruler is Naelyan (nail'-yon), who oversees the dragons of the seas, springs, lakes, ponds and rivers. Its color is pure blue, and it is cold and moist. The positive associations of Water are: sunset, autumn, the water chalice, any form of helpful water, compassion, peacefulness, forgiveness, love, intuition, calmness, and peace of mind. The negative associations are: floods, rainstorms, whirlpools, any kind of harmful water, laziness, indifference, instability, lack of emotional control, insecurity. These dragons can be found in bodies of water, and can be seen working with dragons of wind, storm, and weather, mountains and forests, or those of destruction. An Invocation to the Dragons of Water Pick some music that reminds you of the sea, like harp music, or recordings of the ocean. Let yourself be water as you dance and sing. Use candles or other objects of a pure blue color. Choose herbs and oils that are of the element of Water. Repeat this chant three times: "Calm water, moving water, seas and lake, I call upon the water drake. Naelyan! (Ring gong three times). Teach me the psychic. Grant me calm And peace of mind, compassion warm. Naelyan! (Ring gong three times)."
