EASTER


No matter what Easter means to you
it could be dyeing eggs pink, yellow, or blue
It could be a bunny that brings baskets full of candy and toys
and brings them all over the world to good little girls and boys

Easter could be about being with family as a tradition
just getting everyone together could be your mission
Easter egg hunts with kids and grand kids can surely be fun
the one that finds the most will be the winner when it's all said and done

It could mean a big dinner with family and friends
there could be stuffing, peas, yams, ham, and some big fat hens
It could mean an Easter parade with bonnets that look a little funny
or it could mean an Easter pageant with women that look like a Playboy Bunny

Easter may just be another day, it may not mean anything to you
it may just be another reason for you to get out and barbeque
Easter might just mean the Lilies are in season
or it could mean that the NFL draft is close, if no other reason

Easter means a lot more than all these things
no matter what you believe or what your religion sings
It's about a soul that loved man on earth so much
he gave his life as a gesture of his love and trust

Trust and believe in him as the son of God
when it comes time for you to enter the gates of heaven, you will get the nod
You can believe that this soul is not the son of God 'till the day your dead
but if nothing else you should believe in the man and the words that he said

He did not speak of the damned and he did not speak of hell
he just said to love your neighbor as you love yourself and you will do well
Even if you don't believe this soul is the savior of mankind
to not see the good in his words, you would have to be blind

This soul of peace gave his life for our sins in a violent death
he was beaten and nailed to a cross until he took his last breath
His death and his rising, rather or not you believe it to be true
Easter is a symbol the death of the old and the birth of the new
