I've had insomnia issues for years. It has nothing to do with caffeine, lights, noise, or any other "well duh" triggers. Basically after years of shift work my internal clock is in a different time zone than the rest of me.
I've mentioned it to my doctor before but didn't make that big a deal out of it because I'd prefer to not go the prescription drug route and I'd hoped that getting set up in a steady 1st shift job would help settle it down. That was almost 4 years ago now and my insomnia only seems to be getting worse and the usual remedies don't seem to be as effective any more.
Should I keep trying what I know has worked in the past and hope things will ease up, or should I just suck it up and talk to my doctor again letting him know how bad it is getting and accept that he may want to prescribe something?
