Do You Remember When...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Each year, Canada marks Veterans' Week from November 5 to 11. Veterans' Week is a time to honour and remember all those who served Canada in times of war, military conflict and peace. Throughout the week, commemorative events and activities will be held in communities across Canada. This year, we call upon all Canadians, especially youth, to take an active role in commemoration. Taking part in remembrance events develops a deeper understanding of the sacrifices and achievements of those who have served and continue to serve our country. As Canadians, we have endless opportunities to become involved in remembrance. We can talk to a Veteran, visit a local cenotaph or monument, read a book or attend a Remembrance Day ceremony. When we take an active role in commemoration we become part of a legacy of remembrance and gratitude. We also set an example for future generations so that the torch of remembrance continues to burn brightly. http://www.vac-acc.gc.ca/remembers/sub.cfm?source=feature/week2007 ******* Wear A Poppy In Remembrance & Show Ur Pride In Our Veterans & All Our Troops... ******* Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket 2007 Poster - Lest We Forget Lest We Forget Click on Poster for larger image (69.8 K) Download PDF Poster (113 KB) The Veterans' Week 2007 poster features Canadian troops continuing the noble tradition of taking an active role in bringing stability and peace to parts of the world that have seen turmoil and upheaval. Canadian Forces members shown in this poster are on a training exercise before leaving for the international mission in Afghanistan. These men and women are continuing Canada's legacy, passed on by our Veterans, of defending peace, freedom and the preservation of human values worldwide. The soldiers featured in the background of this poster stand with great pride. They stand for all Canadians who answered the call when their country was in need. They stand as a reminder of the sacrifices and accomplishments of the brave men and women who defended the values Canadians enjoy today. In the upper-left corner of the poster a silhouette of a lone Veteran bows his head in remembrance. He stands in sombre solitude, honouring the many Canadian Veterans who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Canada's New Government is dedicated to helping all Canadians, especially youth, understand and appreciate the sacrifices made by our Veterans. Each year Canadians are called to take an active role in commemoration and to ensure that the selfless dedication of Canadian Veterans is never forgotten. Lest we forget.
