Onyx's blog: "Rambling thoughts"

created on 04/24/2007  |  http://fubar.com/rambling-thoughts/b76695
Ok time to chew some a$$ about the general public once again. For those of you who have read my previous blogs you know what I do and why I write these. For those who dont...... go read the other 5 I have posted. Today we start out with a basic question of upbringing. I know for a fact that most people were brought up by their parents that when you get something you put it back where you got it from. WHY is it that once you enter a public place you cant do the same thing? How many times have you been out shopping and as you walk down the ailse at the store you find items that have no relevance to that area. case in point, you are walking through the toy department and on the shelf next to the Barbie Dolls you find a package of raw round steak. hrmmmm last time I checked, raw meat was only a toy for ugly children so the dog would play with them? You pass by that steak without another thought. BUT do you realize that that steak just raised the cost of everything else you buy, not just in the store you are in but everywhere. Once that steak has broken what we call the cold chain it has to be thrown away. sooooo there goes lets say 6 bucks tossed in the trash. while over in housewares someone has decided they no longer want the bacon they picked up 10 minutes ago on the other side of the store. Do they take it back to the place they got it? NO they leave it siting right there next to the spatulas and whisks. another 3 bucks down the drain. This happens so often I could walk down any aisle at any time and find one item or another that doesn't belong in that area. Yeah if you decide you don't want those really cool shoes you found 20 minutes ago in the shoe department while you are grabbing some shampoo, those can go back to the department they came from and be resold. But my point is if you don't want an item fine save it until you get to the front and hand it to the cashier, telling him/her "sorry I decided I didnt want this" wont get you tossed out of the store. We would rather have extra items at the front that are unwanted than finding a package of salmon stuffed in the clothing racks for two days. (been there done that, EWW) SO please think before you drop that gallon of milk off in sporting goods, or that package of frozen peas off in the garden center ( no they wont grow when planted) that every item that cant be resold because it is no longer safe to sell, will raise the price on everything else you buy. My store alone probably throws away $3,000.00 a day in items that are no longer sellable. from milk to cheese to meat and frozen veggies. Ice cream, fish sticks, to eggs. I know I don't want to buy an item that is supposed to be frozen and it was left out and thawed out then refrozen. Please think b4 you drop, it might save ya a few pennies in the future. ~Onyx~
