Life before Fubar.com, I had only thought about DJing in passing when I hear some really good DJ’s on the air. Mind shifts to dream mode and only wonders what possibly it would be like if only I were in their shoes. I know. Rumor has it that there isn’t a lot of money involved in it, but (coming from a photobug family) I am a ham at times—the sizzling honey ham (j/k). Ha ha…. This year, through Fubar, I have actually had the opportunity to DJ and caught the bug enough to want to pursue the possibility of gaining additional education and insights to become more of a professional at it. In the meantime, I’ve created my own page where folks can try their hand at DJing under the direction of Fubar. I have DJ’d at a club in Canyon Lake, Texas, through a friend of mine and love the real life aspects of it. He would get on the mic and announce “Give DJ Devine a round of applause. She’s come all the way from Austin Texas!” and the crowds would cheer. I’m also going to have an opportunity to DJ on a XM station towards the end of September, if all goes well. I am sooo looking forward to doing that. In all honesty, my ex-husband should be the one doing sports broadcasting as he would have 3 tvs going, along with several radio stations so that he could watch/hear about every game that was going on that day. He’d even know who’s wife just had a baby, etc. Oh my gosh! lol… I am game for most things though. (no pun intended… lol!) Stumbled upon this and curious to see where this journey will take me on. Question is… will you be there to cheer me on the next time someone announces, “This is DJ Devine! All the way from Austin, Texas!”, wherever that might be??? Hee hee…

lmao..... No I am not into drama, but the life on FU can often be fast paced and if you don't grab hold of that kite tail passing you by, you just might miss an opportunity to soar. As such, a turn of events has transpired where the DJ spot I was DJing from has turned into a more provocative site than what I was looking for. I am an adult... but sometimes a little too much provocativeness aired out in public view can be a little too much than what I would like to do. Nothing at all against the people of the site; just not a direction that I really was looking for -- and the change of CLUB GLOW to CLUB MYSTIFY, taking upon a merge of THE PLAYPEN LOUNGE was just a little more than what I wanted to do. As you recall, I had mentioned to you that SUNSET CAFE, through Rescue Diva, has offered me a spot there no matter what other things were going like in the other lounges. Well, in talking to her more last night, she offered me the role of Head DJ. Wow. I certainly didn't expect that and really appreciated the offer, thought about it, and accepted it. Also, DJ Superman and I have been FU b/f g/f for a bit of time, although we have been friends on FU since 2006. As he was also DJing on CLUB GLOW and also didn't want to pursue the direction that they were now heading to with THE PLAYPEN image into the newly formed club of CLUB MYSTIFY.... and.... with him having the KRYPTONITE LOUNGE, he really was seeing himself with the role of trying to pursue getting his own lounge off the ground. While he doesn't have his own player just yet, things are set into motion. He has asked me to manage the promotions. That is a HUGE role and I hope that I don't let him down in that aspect; however, we have some ideas of directions to go with this.... so we will see. As as result, I wrote Stryke and stated to him: "It has been with much deliberation tonight with the onset of your site taking on a much more provocative tone. DJ Superman and I have been talking for several hours tonight and he would love for me to help him promote his site. Rescue Diva has also offered me a Head DJ position at her site. I think I am going to take them up on their offers. I have enjoyed working with you and if there is any way that I could perhaps be a floater DJ with your site, I would love to do that rather than have a set schedule. I will do my show tomorrow as schedule, and will continue doing my shows for this week so as to not leave you high and dry by any means. Please let me know, how I can best help you out." To some, it might sound conceited to toot my own horn; but, I have learned in life that if you don't try to toot your own horn every once in a while, no one else will. So while I have, since Saturday's departure from Blue Orion, grabbed hold of one set of kite strings, I have now grabbed hold of another set of kite strings and hope to God that they only sail higher and higher. (I wouldn't mind if it wouldn't sail quite so fast as it has been...lol... though!!) For now, I am beginning my search for DJ's on the SUNSET CAFE.... and getting the gears in motion for ideas in promoting my FU BF's lounge, while I would like to consider guest DJing or as a floater DJ from time to time on various lounges. We'll see...

My departure, as supported and told by many of my friends, from Blue Orion Radio this past Saturday may have been the best thing I have done to try to branch out in different directions. Quickly, Stryke, picked me up and offered me a spot to DJ in his CLUB GLOW, nka as CLUB MYSTIFY, lounge beginning on Monday (which is now yesterday)...and, Diva, offered me a guest DJ spot on her SUNSET CAFE lounge on Sunday, which I thoroughly enjoyed spinning tunes. Both lounges offer a variety of DJs and members and it was interesting to cater to slightly differing audiences while not deviating too much from my playlist that I had loaded up. My playlist has been typically a bit of a mix of genres - soft & classical rock, country, rhythm & blues, humor, soul, indie, light metal, new artists, forgotten artists, top 40 artists, artist from UK & Australia as well, etc. This morning, it was sealed, with the Master DJ @ CELL BLOCK 69, that I would DJ with them as well. They are a bit of a different breed that I am used to -- bit heavier rock over all than I am used to -- so I am thinking that (while they say just be me) I probably should expand my library a bit to include some harder rock tunes as well to help blend in with their genre theme a little better. If you have any ideas or suggestions on some viable artists that I could take a look at in adding, please (oh please) offer them in the comments here. Between these three lounges, I think I will close out my search for DJing homes, as my current schedule stands as -- CLUB GLOW, nka as CLUB MYSTIFY -- Mondays-Fridays 5-7pEST (4-6pCST) CELL BLOCK 69 -- Thursdays & Fridays 2-5pEST (1-4CST) SUNSET CAFE -- no set schedule at this time (although I have been told that no matter what happens, I will always have a home there). ALL HITS RADIO -- also no set schedule at this time. (Not a fubar lounge site, but it is an internet radio site and another means to explore.) As such, that is 16 firmed up hours DJing time and will provide me some experience in diversity of audiences and tunes to spin. I always love challenges. Other lounges have talked to me about joining up with them - and perhaps they will let me guest DJ with them from time to time as time permits. I don't know. All I do know is that I do need to keep things into perspective -- time for my r/l job, friends and family, as well as other social interactions while I have fun expanding my horizons with the DJing experiences, as well as exploring other possibilities of video designing, tag designing and more. :D What is that addage that we heard growing up??? "An idle mind is a wasted mind." or, something like that!! lol... I do sooooooo look forward to my family, friends, and fans to come listen to me DJ and grow into a bit more diverse of a DJ without having to give up my values (such as playing the "bad mouth" rap tunes). Do make sure, though, that you let the folks know that DJ Devine sent you there!!! :D

There is a time when you feel that you have hit a fork in the road and must turn to move forward to greener pastures that will allow you to grow the way you are most comfortable in doing so. I know, I know... sometimes, part of the growth is being able to do some things that one might not like to do; however, soul searching has to determine to draw that line when it crosses one's own moral values as well. As such, I am leaving Blue Orion Lounge and moving my DJing skills with sites that are more conducive to my growth..... DJ Devine In order to squash any rumors that you might hear about why I left, I am putting my resignation letter I have sent to the staff of Blue Orion Lounge today in this blog post as well: I am really getting tired of the drama created by the staff at Blue Orion Radio... lounge... While I have DJing with you all for the past few months, y'all have knowingly forced me to play what I call bad mouth rap songs... and find them offensive to me. It drove me to the point of creating a Mumm to see if I was alone in my thoughts; I am not. See Mumm http://fubar.com/mum.php?id=371326. I love and do play all genres of music and try to balance it to have a good mix. I just hate the derogatory rap songs (while there are some that aren't quite so bad). If some day the rappers would convert their song lyrics as good as their beats of their music, they might generate more listeners. I was listening to a Buffalo radio station last night. They had a rapper on their show who stated that, while rap is widely accepted throughout the world, Texas is a market not for rappers. Duh -- where do I reside, but in Texas. It isn't just me that resists -- it is the State of Texas on the whole! And, did you know that rap is actually illegal in 43 countries??? In the last few days, all that has been sent to me has been "bad mouth rap" on the whole, knowing how much I find it offensive. I have played it anyway, but didn't like it at all. Anyhow... It has been with much soul searching that I am writing my letter of resignation from Blue Orion Lounge. I have moved on to other DJing opportunities where the owner of the station states "as for what ya can play, play what ever ya want and i personally say rap is crap". I feel that this is the best fit for my personality and allow my DJing skills and show to blossom rather than feel that it is being commanded by the staff at Blue Orion Lounge. Thank you for showing me a good time as long as the times were good. I still think the world of many of you and welcome you to keep in contact with me. In fact, I hope that many of you do keep in contact with me. Wow this has been an interesting week. Not only did I survive airing 12 hrs airtime on Blue Orion Radio, I have also had the assistance of a friend of mine to get my 2nd PC up and running, as well as help me organize my DJ corner a bit more (and include a DJ mic and mixer to boot).
