this is a new diet a few of my friends are on and the results are astounding!!!!!! i'm gonna try it b/c i need to lose some weight lol NEW MAYO CLINIC DIET In 2 ½ months you should lose 52 pounds At breakfast: ½ grapefruit or 8 ounce juice (unsweetened) 2 eggs any style 2 slices bacon At lunch: ½ grapefruit or 8 ounce juice (unsweetened) Salad, any dressing Meat, any style (including chicken) any amount At dinner: ½ grapefruit or 8 ounce juice (unsweetened) Meat, any style (including chicken) any amount Fish may be substituted Vegetables, any green or red (cooked in butter or any seasoning) or salad as above Coffee or tea 1 cup (if caffeine) Bedtime snack: 8 ounce glass of tomato juice or skim milk 1. at any meal you may eat until you are full, until you cannot eat anymore. You must eat the minimum listed at each meal. 2. don’t eliminate anything from the diet, especially don’t skip the bacon at breakfast or omit salads. It is the combination of foods that burn fat. 3. the grapefruit is important because it acts as a catalyst that starts the burning process. Don’t add grapefruit or grapefruit juice. 4. cut down on coffee. It affects the insulin balance that hinders the burning process. Try to limit 1 cup at mealtime. 5. don’t eat between meals. If you eat the combination of foods suggested you will not get hungry. 6. the diet completely eliminates sugars and starches which are lipids and form fat. Ft does not form fat, but it helps to burn it, so you can fry foods in butter and use butter generously on vegetables. 7. do not eat desserts, breads, and white vegetables or sweet potatoes. You may also double or triple helpings of meat, salad, or vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed. The more you eat, the more weight you will lose. 8. you can lose 10 pounds in 10 days. There may be no weight loss the first 4 days, but you will lose 8 pounds on the 5th day. You will then lose 1 ½ to 2 pounds every 2 days until you are where you want to be. 9. drink 8 ounces of water every day. THIS DIET IS GIVEN TO HEART PATIENTS NEEDING TO LOSE WEIGHT FAST FOR BYSPASS SURGERY. ALL SOFT DRINKS NEED TO BE DIET OR CAFFEINE FREE YOU MAY NOT HAVE: white onions, potatoes, celery, peas, cereal, corn, starchy vegetables, any kind of chips, peanut butter, pasta, jelly or jams, sweet pickles, pretzels, fruit, low fat/fat free dressing. YOU MAY HAVE: red onions, bell peppers, radishes, broccoli, cucumbers, carrots, green onions, leaf spinach, cabbage, tomatoes, any cheese, hot dogs, cole slaw, regular salad dressing, green vegetables, 1 TEASPOON dried nuts, dill or bread/butter pickles. IMPORTANT! STAY ON THE DIET FOR 12 DAYS THEN STOP FOR 12 DAYS!!!!
