What are you waiting for?

Brother, when you weep for me, remember that it was meant to be. Lay me down and when you leave, remember I'll be your sleeve. In every dark and choking hall, I'll be there as you slowly crawl. On every roof in driving snow, I'll hold your coat, and you will know. The house from which I now respond, is overstaffed with heroes gone. Men who answered one last bell, did the job and did it well. As firefighters we understand, that's death's card's dealt in our hand. A card we hope we never play, but one we hold there anyway. That card is something we ignore, as we crawl across a weakened floor. For we know that we're the only prayer, for anyone who might still be in there. So remember as you wipe your tears, the joy I knew throughout the years. As I did the job I loved to do, pray that thought will see you through. Dedicated to my late husband, David Duane Nolan R.I.P. He passed away at the age of 27 in 2005 after battling a life-long illness, but while he was here he was a VERY dedicated firefighter and loved to write poetry and so that is why I posted this in memory of him. I miss you sooo much and love you sooo much too, but I know that we will be together again someday but until then I'll always remember you, miss you and most of all love you!! *~*Love*~* Your Wifey Hollie N. Nolan <3
