What are you waiting for?

I never cease to be impressed by some of the amazing people I randomly cross paths with.

I just got back from Daytona and was there were with my girl and friends.  My girl and I had breakfast and we rode up to main street.   It was in the mid-80's and the sun was beating down, we had gone for a short walk up the street to look for our friend's bike which we found and and we looked at some T-shirts in a adjacent store.

We crossed the street and were looking in another clothing store and my girl let me know she was feeling nauseated and she walked out into the alley way because she felt like she was going to throw up.   She'd been having a headache and started feeling weak from standing in the heat, that and she's been having a bit of dizzyness when she gets up from low blood pressure.  I got her back inside the store and had her sit down while I could step two doors down and get her a bottled water because I felt like she may have been a little dehydrated because it had been hot that morning.

Got back with a bottled water, she drank it and started feeling a little better.  I asked her if she felt like looking around at some t-shirts and she did; so I helped her up and we walked about 20 feet and then - she pretty much passed out right in my arms. I helped get her sat down and once she sat back down she became alert again. There was a clerk in the store and he was really nice and went and got her some chewing gum.  She started feeling a little better and I went and got her another water and some food with some quick sugar, a bananna, a fig newton, an oatmeal breakfast bar thingie.  Got back with those and she started eating a little and started feeling a little bit better.

A group stepped into the store to look at some shirts and a lady waited patiently while I was crouched down with my girl and then she stepped over to look at a t-shirt that I was sort of blocking her access to.  A man that was with her, your not out of the ordinarly looking biker sort of man with a beard, jeans, boots and a leather vest, asked me if everything was ok, and I told him it was and that my girl was feeling a little weak and dizzy from low blood pressure.

He asked if he could pray for my girl and I told him yes.  He and his friends gathererd around, he held my girl's hand and prayed for her while his friends gathered around and put their hands on his sholder while he was praying for her.

I really can't explain it, but the generosity and caring of this total stranger was just an awesome and amazing expression of caring.  That this happened right in the middle of the thick of a huge crowd right on main street in Daytona Beach right in the middle of the afternoon on Saturday was even more amazing.  It really touched me.

I gave this man, a total stranger and big brotherly love back slapping hug and thanked him and I must say that his and his friends kindness for total strangers was a very moving experience for me.  I almost cried right on the spot because of this total stranger's generosity.   He even came back a few seconds after he left to ask if he could help out with anything or get her a drink or something.

My girl got to feeling better, we watched some bikes roll by and found our friends.  I took my girl back to where we were staying and sat with her later that day while our friends did something else and she snoozed a bit once she got in some air conditioning and nibbled a bit more at some food.  While my friends were out later that afternoon they were involved in a fairly serious motorcycle accident and while neither were wearing helmets and both were injured, one requiring some stitches; neither was seriously injured.

As I reflected back on the day, I wondered how the events that followed could have differed had I not ran into a total stranger who took just a few moments of his and his friend's time to offer assistance and a prayer for a total stranger.

The possible outcomes of how my and my friends day could have turned out are practically unlimited.

I am so grateful for the health of my friends and family, and felt compelled to take a few moments to post a quick note about the kindness of a complete stranger.

Bikers are amazing people . . .
