What are you waiting for?
Today being another of my favorite days of the week, I packed up a number of firearms, a generous supply of ammunition, several card and paper targets suitable for several ranges as well as my 36" diameter steel disc and headed off for the great desert outback. This being my weekend, I spend at least one day of it with target practice. Setting up at one of my favorite spots I placed targets at various ranges and proceeded to shoot my way through the first group of targets then spent a while ringing steel at 500 yards with my .308 Winchester and 7.62X51,
Changing target sheets takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Then sitting down for some more target practice. So on and so forth until the sun started to retreat over the edge of the nearest mountain. Picking up all my stuff, packing the vehicle up and driving back to Las Vegas saw me get in just shortly after full on dark. A stop at Cane's for a chicken dinner and then unloading everything back home was how my day ended. Cleaning firearms, sorting cartridge cases and getting the first load ready to go in the Case Cleaner will be the end of my day after I eat.
I am not planning on going out and snuffing anyone, I do like to keep my skills up having been a US Marine in the late 60's early 70's. Should the need ever arise, I will be capable of hitting things at some pretty far distances if need be. Is there anyone else here who enjoys a similar hobby? I reload my own ammunition, cast my own lead bullets and this is as good a hobby as any other that I have found.
