Listen to me, listen now, and listen good. Your apathy and naivety, sickens me. An apocalyptic scenario...is inevitable...I don't think you heard that...is inevitable. A minimum of 70% of the world's population...is going to perish. This world...is incapable of supporting our existence as it is today. period. You want inevitabilities that last throughout human history; societies crumble, fossil fuels deplete, and human population is exploding. Why does this affect you right here, right now? The United States...is GOING to fall both economically and socially...oil that we all take for granted, has reached peek production worldwide and will be gone (if we continue on our current course) within 20 years, the water that we rely on to sustain life...is being polluted and quite literally being swallowed up, if we continue our nonchalance even it WILL be gone within your lifetime. The earth can NOT sustain the 7+ billion people walking its surface today, yet we continue to add to this number at a staggering rate and "nature" WILL do what is necessary to maintain its own existence, regardless of what that will mean for mankind. Just over the last 100 years the worlds population has more than tripled. The world can NOT and WILL not continue to support this growth. I have not even touched the very real possibilities of a "nuclear fallout" from "wars" around the world, mega-quakes and volcanic eruptions from over mining and over piling our "rafts" we float on, astronomical objects hitting the earth's surface, tsunamis. SOMETHING WILL happen, and do not hold the idealism of the Mayan calender and 2012, that is nothing more than the prediction of a "galactic alignment. (You will most likely not even be aware of its happening for there are few places on the earth where it will actually be visible; it is like a solar eclipse that only happens every 5000 years or so.)Think about the ideology of the Titanic...it was "unsinkable" and because of this frame of mind, thousands of lives were lost when it did. The world...is the Titanic and we are standing on a sinking ship, but you cling to the idea that it is unsinkable. Do NOT wait until you are "in the water" to realize we are in trouble, for the chances of survival...take a drastic plunge at that point. The time to "lower the lifeboats" is NOW, they should already be "loaded", yet we are still dancing and enjoying our wine. This is called "cognitive dissonance": the mental conflict that people experience when they are presented with evidence that their beliefs or assumptions are wrong. Do not allow the ego to stand in the way of your preparations simply because you do not want to admit you have been wrong. Remain apathetic to the situation and we WILL perish. Your view of the world...is an illusion, FULL of smoke and mirrors, but behind this illusion...lies a world in a sad sad state of disarray. Famine is running rampant in countries around the world. Drought is affecting every continent that sustains life. War is prevalent all over the globe. Diseases claim more lives each year than the ENTIRE bubonic plague epidemic. These are all signs of the "end times" foretold of in the bible, back when mankind's ignorance of how the world REALLY worked and believed everything to the result of a god or gods dictating the direction in which life will go. A man, exiled by society, living on an island alone, trying to describe what he sees some 2000 years into the future. get real. We now have the knowledge of what the world is really like, but lack the intelligence to put 2 and 2 together to get 4. If you lack that intelligence...evolution, nature WILL take you out in order to preserve life and itself. Do not become a casualty, become an example. We are the ONLY species that has ever walked the earths surface with the intellect, the power, to both destroy itself or save itself, and day after day we choose destruction over continued life. The satisfaction of our ego has taken over our sense of preservation, and that HAS caught up to us. Whether you choose to accept it or not. Take for example a compulsive gambler who knows he should not place another be, but the lure of that instant gratification is more sought after than the wisdom of what should or should not be done to ensure the survival of our species. I, for one my dear friends, am "cashing out" while I am still ahead, for while I accept death...I choose to embrace life and the future preservation of it. While I live in the moment the way you wish to, I choose to ensure a world that is inhabitable for my grandchildren's children. What is YOUR choice? I beg you, do NOT simply read these words, choose to agree or disagree the write them off. Pass them along to your friends and family so that they to may be able to make an informed decision.
