Last Wednsday,8 November, I experienced a 3rd episode of my heart racing. This time it wouldn't stop, so I drove myself to the ER around midnight. Oconee couldn't do anything for me, meds weren't working, which they said was unusual, but, they could tell me what it was.
Ventricular Tachycardia.
What is ventricular tachycardia? Ventricular tachycardia is a fast heart rhythm that starts in the lower part of the heart (ventricles). If left untreated, some forms of ventricular tachycardia may worsen and lead to ventricular fibrillation, which can be life-threatening.
Oconee Regional put me in an ambulance and took me to the Macon Medical Center. My days are kind of whacky, so I'll just tell you what happened as I remember. They put a stint in my leg, clearing an artery. After 4 hours of having to keep my leg still, they finally let me move around. About 30 minutes after that, I suddenly coded. I could not breathe and I couldn't get the nurses to understand that. I only have one lung, and with my heart racing, fluids started building in that one lung, so fast, that it was literally smothering me. I swear I fought the whole floor that few minutes it took me to pass out. When they pulled me from the drug induced sleep, I had been intubated. Anyway, they changed my meds to reduce the possiblity of liquids building up in my lung again, and took me to a second surgery. They implanted a defibrilator to monitor my heart and to shock it if it acts up again. I know what the shock feels like, as they shocked me twice without sedation at Oconee. Feels like getting kicked in the chest by a mule. It will save my life one day.
My family was very supportive during those days, most I do not remember...and my daughter Christina, was a princess to let some people know what was going on with me here on myspace. Glenn, Lynn and Mike...well...you guys made me smile during a time I needed to smile. Thanks for your friendship and your constant support. I love you guys long time. I apologize to those that thought I was ignoring them or wasn't a true friend, but this was not intentional by any means. Thanks to those that continued to leave comments, although I wasn't responding as I usually do.
Glenn, those prints are dear to me and are very special. I will treasure them forever.
You are right Lynn...damn...just....damn....gotta hear you and the boys jam soon.
Jack, you were there for me, and I love you for that.
Overall, I am much better and more monitored and am getting back to my old self, for what it's worth.
Thanks for your friendship and support. I love you all.
