RELENTLESS PURSUIT
NHL 2007 Season is here. That means in 26 weeks and four days the Dallas Stars will again be crowned the Western Conference Pacific Division Champs. As well as accepting their third President’s Trophy on their way to a second Lord Stanley’s Cup.
Captain Morrow will lead the Stars into Colorado and battle the Avalanche. This is a rivalry that runs deep with a lot of past history. Whining Roy is long gone, Forsberg has moved to Philly and Foote to Columbus. Sakic is still there and now he has names like Hejduk, Laperriere, Sauer, and a name familiar to us here in Dallas Turgeon. Even though this is not the powerful team that won the Stanley Cup in 1996 and 2001, they are still potent enough to take serious. The Stars have to put the early out from last year’s playoffs and the up and down preseason where they went 3 – 4. Now they need to focus on the overtime win last week over Tampa Bay to end that preseason.
The journey to another Championship begins now. It is long and at times very tough but one that must be made. I am up for it. I have trained for five months. I had the recliner serviced and the mini fridge stocked. Charter is paid up and Direct TV ready to go in an emergency. The crock-pot for the cheese dip, the microwave for popcorn are clean and ready for service. Schwans delivery is back on schedule for the late night meals when the Stars are on the west coast. The Stars flag was brought out of storage and waves proudly off of the Carport again. Put thunderstruck back as the ring tone on my cell. I picked up the #9 KOHO from the dry cleaners today so it’s good to go for another season. Reload the remote with fresh AA’s for accurate volume control so each blast of the train horns rock the game room as if F.W.W.R. was rolling right through it.
So it’s go time Stars Fans. Finish putting the dinner away and get the kids tucked in. Park your butt in the front row, easy on the glass and get ready for another action packed season with YOUR DALLAS STAAAARRRRRRRRRRSSSSSS!!
