daily devotional 1/19/07

January 19 - Daily Feast Volume II Rigid routine, rigid thought, can make rigid bodies. Turn off the paved path and put your foot on the earth. Feel the pulse, the life, the clean earth. If there are things that keep you from seeing the horizon, look straight up. The sky is there above the smoke, the smog, the haze that would hide the blue. Reach out and lay your fingers in the flow of any little stream - clean water is there behind the chemicals, beyond the things that would pollute. Lift your spirit above the sirens and shrill voices and ugliness of graceless personalities. Pause for even a minute in an attitude of worship. It is your day. ~ Each soul must meet the morning sun, the new sweet earth and the Great Silence alone. ~ OHIYSA - SANTEE DAKOTA "A Cherokee Feast of Days, Volume II" by Joyce Sequichie Hifler *<<<=-=>>>*<<<=-=>>>*<<<=-=>>>*<<<=-=>>>* Elder's Meditation of the Day - January 19 "Heal yourself - your physical and spiritual bodies. Regenerate yourself with light, and then help those who have poverty of the soul. Return to the inner spirit, which we have abandoned while looking elsewhere for happiness." --Willaru Huayta, QUECHUA NATION, PERU It is difficult to look inside ourselves, especially when we see conflict or confusion. During times of conflict we need to realize that we are talking to ourselves about our thoughts. This conversation is printing in our subconscious and forming our beliefs. During times of conflict we need to ask the spirit to control our self-talk. Only through finding that inner place and going there during troubled times will we ever find happiness. Great Spirit, You are my peace and you dwell within me. Let me look for You within myself. *<<<=-=>>>*<<<=-=>>>*<<<=-=>>>*<<<=-=>>>* 'THINK on THESE THINGS' By Joyce Sequichie Hifler "Though we speak with the tongues of men and angels and give our bodies to be burned, if we are irritable or hard to live with, it all accounts for nothing," wrote Margaret Widdemer. Wouldn't it be a blessing to ourselves and to others if we could be as gentle and considerate in temper as we expect others to be? It is not a good thing to keep pent up then emotions that rules us so continually, but neither is it good to be too quick and too constantly blowing off steam. It may serve as a tension reliever to us, but it can soon ruin our relationships with others. And without our realizing it, we can soon become chronic complainers. Worry, physical ailments and weariness can cause a short temper that we think others should understand. And most have a way of knowing if that is the case, but prolonged impositions on other people will wear that tolerance very thin. It takes two to have an argument, but it takes only one to start it. The need to forgive and to be forgiven should never be overlooked. To pass over a disagreement quickly without thought to the damage we've done can take the shine off any friendship. There can be no merit in forgetting if we cannot first forgive. There are two voices in this world that will be forever unpopular. One is the voice of self-pity, the other is the voice that yells all the time. One declares itself to be the victim of great injustices, the other yells to demand justice. Those who believe themselves to be the victim of injustice - those who believe they are meant to suffer - will always find conditions to prove they are right. And those who yell, "Look what I've sacrificed," and always with the theme, "What I've tried to do for you," have slowed another's progress and stopped their own. True victims of circumstance are easily recognized, and do not care to be noticed as such. And those who yell their merits have received their rewards, so there aren't any others. Both have their attentions turned inward, but to the sorrow of most.... Their voices are not. *<<<=-=>>>*<<<=-=>>>*<<<=-=>>>*<<<=-=>>>* GRANDFATHER¢S PRAYER FOR TODAY. Thank you My Creator for always being with me on the long winding road of life. ---------------------------------------------------------- TO WALK THE RED ROAD Long road winding began in the stars spilled to the mountaintops carried in the snow, to the streams, to the rivers, to the ocean. It covers Canada , Alaska , and America . Mexico to Guatemala , and throughout the world. It keeps winding around the indigenous peoples on our Earth. The Red Road is a circle of People standing hand in hand. People in this world, People between, People in the Spirit world, Star People, Animal People, Stone People, River People, Tree People, The Sacred Hoop. To walk the Red Road is to know sacrifice and suffering. It is to understand Humility. It is the ability to stand naked before The Great Spirit in all things. For your wrong doings, for your lack of strength, for your discompasionate way, for your arrogance. Because to walk the Red Road , you always know you can do better. And you know when you do good things it is through the Creator and you are grateful. To walk the Red Road is to know you stand on equal ground with all living things. It is to know that because you were born human gives you superiority over nothing. It is to know that every creation carries a spirit and the river knows more than you do, the mountains know more than you do, the stone people know more than you do, The trees know more than you do, the wind is wiser than you are. Animal people carry wisdom, and you can learn from every one of them, because they have something you don¢t, they are void of evil thoughts. They wish vengeance on no one, they seek Justice. To Walk the Red Road , You have God given rights, You have the right to pray, You have the right to dance, You have the right to think, You have the right to protect. You have the right to know Mother Earth. You have the right to dream, You have the right to vision, You have the right to teach You have the right to learn, You have a right to grieve, You have a right to happiness. You have the right to fix the wrongs, You have the right to truth, You have a right to the Spirit World. To Walk the Red Road , is to know your Ancestors, to call to them for assistance. It is to know that there is good medicine in knowing there are those who are in constant watch for a way to gain strength for themselves at the expense of you. To Walk the Red Road you have less fear at being wrong, because you know that life is a journey, a continuous circle, a sacred hoop. Mistakes will be made, and mistakes can be corrected, if you will be humble. For if you cannot be humble you will never know when you have made a mistake. If you walk the Red Road you know that every sorrow leads to a better understanding. Every horror cannot be explained, but can offer growth. To Walk the Red Road is to look for beauty in all things. To Walk the Red Road is to know you will one day cross to the Spirit World and you will be not afraid. May your walk on the Red Road be one of courage. For it takes a strong person, a person of bravery, who will seek Justice for all living things, with a steady, compassionate hand May you never be afraid to speak your truth, and may you sing your death song like a Warrior going home, as you are recognised in the Spirit World Hau,Take Care, Be Safe, Have Fun, Live Life!!!! May the Creator Bless you with his Wisdom, Love and Light and guide you on your path through Life!!!! Gigawabamin (until our paths cross again) Aho , Amen , e-men . God's Minute AS THE SCRIPTURE SAYS, ANYONE WHO TRUSTS IN HIM WILL NEVER BE PUT TO SHAME. FOR THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN JEW AND GENTILE-THE SAME LORD IS LORD OF ALL AND RICHLY BLESSES ALL WHO CALL ON HIM. ( ROMANS 10:11-12 *NIV ) Dear Member's, We all are guilty of forgetting our blessings once in a while, and not thanking our Heavenly Father for the many blessings that He has given to us. This is even though; FROM THE FULLNESS OF HIS GRACE WE HAVE ALL RECEIVED ONE BLESSING AFTER ANOTHER. ( JOHN 1:16 ) Dr. Norman Vincent Peale once wrote, that if you spend two minutes each morning counting all of your blessings, you will find that the day will turn out well! So why not try that today, and while you are counting them remember to thank God for them. After all through Him all our blessings flow indeed! Therefore; THANKS BE TO GOD FOR HIS INCREDIBLE GIFTS, ( 2 CORINTHIANS 9:15 ) and when you thank Him make sure that you are; ALWAYS GIVING THANKS TO GOD THE FATHER FOR EVERYTHING, IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. ( EPHESIANS 5:20 ) Now Member's, have a wonderful weekend and may; THE LORD BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU; THE LORD MAKE HIS FACE TO SHINE UPON YOU AND BE GRACIOUS TO YOU. Amen. ( NUMBERS 6:24 ) With My Love & Prayers, your servant ,Wado Pastor CougarMoon
