My little island is well protected, yet some still feel above the law.
I went for my usual run yesterday morning and on the return trip, my route passes an elementary school. There is usually a cruiser parked close by to ensure traffic obeys the speed limit in the school zone.
School already started and was in session and the cruiser was parked in a church parking lot across the street. Unfortunately as I was approaching the drive, a car sped by and the officer pulled out to enforce the speed and clipped me, knocking me down.
I was already a bit winded, sweaty and just wanted to get home and rehydrate and get into the shower, but went off on him like a fly on shit (pardon the expression) and was not going to the hospital and waste taxpayer money and time to take care of a little bruising and soreness.
I should have filed an incident report but was not thinking clearly after my belittling an officer of the law negligence and to be more careful - for it could have been worse and I bounced back up quite rapidly. If it was an elderly person or a kid running late to school, or a mother with a stroller he would have been knee deep in trouble, but I respect those who serve and protect, as many in my family were officers.
Oh well, life goes on and I'll be ok. Still icing my left side and will heal soon enough. Wishing you a most wonderful weekend.
