I'm sure a lot of people who have seen my album, “Critters in my yard” are wondering if I am concerned about what's out there? No, not at all. They were here long before I was. It is mankind that has invaded their home and is forcing them out. I m living in the same place I grew up in and over the years the changes have been so dramatic it's scary. Where I learned to hunt, fish and just be a kid is gone. Gone are the pastures where cows grazed to provide beef and dairy products, groves that provided citrus to all parts of the world and woods that gave shelter to gods creatures. This has been replaced be roads, houses, golf courses and emptiness. Why? That's simple, the people who owned this land have passed on or their children have taken over and all they are looking at is the money that the property will bring if they sell it. Five years ago there might have been a few hundred homes within five miles of my place. There are now thousands with a total of 25,000 or so planned. I know I live in a great place, I must, everyone wants to move here. I don't blame them, I don't like cold weather either but, damn, could you leave some of the real Florida for the kids to see how mother nature intended it to be. Let me say this in closing this bitch: “Welcome to Florida , now go home.”
