be warned at this point I am only rambling and not serious about it yet so here goes.
Well, where do I start? Ive been on this site for almost four years, made some great friends, also made some huge mistakes. I really don't like the direction fubar is taking, going away from social networking and more towards mindless self gratification as the means towards the end of a game that is ,simply put, unwinnable.
Kudos to fumanagement for attempting to keep things interesting and advertisement free but on the same token I think the different things to earn points and achievements has put the focus more on fubar and less on each other. Now its a matter of 1 in MAYBE 10,000 ppl on fu that i actually feel like talking to, not odds I like very much. In fact I talked to a higher percentage of ppl on yahoo than i did fubar.
It used to be we talked in the sb everyday, someone always had something to say and although it had its share of drama at times we could still talk to each other fairly openly without "an agenda". and now? its all rate me, love me, help my friend out cuz they cant do it themselves! In the end no one really accomplishes anything on here and the friendships that last are few and far between.
The more shallow of a direction fubar takes, the less I like it.
Now there are exceptions to these generalizations, and you ppl know who you are so don't go EMO on me and start taking offense where none is intended. I have met some awesome people on this site, none of which I'll name because no awesome person is any less awesome than another and I refuse to play favorites that way. To those that I am close to, I love each and every one of you in your own unique way and don't change a thing about you. If and when i decide to leave this place I will be sure to have some form of communication with my closest friends. The rest of you can go fuck yourselves! (said with a big smile on my face)
All that being said, my VIP is up next month sometime and if i hang around to oct 6th I will have been here officially for four years. I think it may be time to take my life in another direction, one with a little more meaning and purpose. I have not decided for sure and you are welcome to try to persuade me to stay, but I assure you if I DO decide to leave I will not be coming back.
If you consider me to be a close friend to you, I have a facebook account and a phone, yahoo and msn messengers. I will be more than happy to add you to anyone one of them if you wish to keep in touch. I just want to be clear, I am thinking of leaving fubar, not my friends.
comments are welcome, but please, no BS about how ur gonna miss me when im gone. If ur a friend we'll still be in touch and if ur not really a friend, I'll be gone for about ten seconds before you go on to rating someone else.
right now I'm about 70/30 towards fu-retirement, maybe you can change my mind, maybe not, who knows, theres a month here before I even need to think about a decision.
