Biercation's blog: "Concerts"

created on 04/08/2009  |  http://fubar.com/concerts/b289755

I went to the second show (Sunday, April 5th, 2009) at Club Nokia in LA, directly across the street from the Staples Center.  There were 5 of us: me, Jesse, Dana, Erin, and Anthony.  We got there early and had a beer at the bar downstairs then went in.  I totally forgot I had my knife on me and had to ditch it (like a dumbass).  We hung out for an hour til the show started, opening with Troy Van Leeuwan's new project, Sweethead, with him on guitar of course, and a hot blonde singing.

When Puscifer started, it was preceded with a funny video of Major Douche (Maynard in a military outfit) saying how much he doesn't want flash photography used....in so many words (there were other funny videos with comedians throughout the show, "What is a Puscifer?" haha).  Then Maynard was in a tent, wearing a suit, on his laptop (fuckin' Macbook), talking on his cell phone (the show had a camp out theme).  There was plenty of oddball humor during the show (cross-dressing Hitler in a tutu).  The first song they played was Revelation 22:20, during which Maynard and the other chick had their faces covered by a screen displaying a fisheye view of their faces singing, it was fucking amazing visually and musically (best described by my buddy Anthony as 'a live music video').  The songs they played were all deconstructed, instrumental versions of the songs, aka badass.  They covered Elton John's Rocket Man also.  There were various special guests that played and took part in the camp out theme.  A highlight was Milla Jovavich (looking fucking incredibly hot I might add) coming out to sing The Mission with Maynard.

For the last part of the show I was at the bar area with Danny Carey (drummer for Tool), who was just hanging out drinking shots people bought for him.  Some random chick ran up and flashed him saying something about A Perfect Circle....dumbass.  As we were about to leave I spotted Troy Van Leeuwan (Failure, Queens of the Stone Age, A Perfect Circle), Billy Howerdel (A Perfect Circle, ASHES dIVIDE), and Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, and other bands).  I just said a couple words to them and shook all their hands.  They were all chill, down to earth guys.  The whole experience was just awesome.  Thanks for reading about my experience!!
